LOL, Treasure. Are you mistaking me quoting someone else's post that was blanked out?

I do that when the "blank out" appearance comes about.

It was not my opinion.

Here's another fact for everyone, do you

You CANNOT put a price on that moment for me and my boys. That there was our superbowl. My Son even bought me a Miami Miracle TShirt. If you cant see that , against the PATS of all teams.........you are beyond help. I wouldn't trade that moment for this years 1st pick. Not ever. GO DOLPHINS and more moments like that!!!!

Go slowly back thru my post and bring out ONE post where I even mention the play you are talking about. The last thing I even mentioned was a Tannehill jersey.

Treasure..... I am glad that you and your sons had a great bonding moment with the Miracle in Miami. I enjoyed it as well. But also see the big picture, if we lost that game (or maybe the Bears overtime win) we would be picking 8th this year. We were essentially out of the playoff race by that time. Is beating New Wngland in the regular season your goals. I want to beat them in the playoffs and win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately loosing that game would have been more helpful to our rebuild. I guess I would rather forgo the little victories for the big ones.

I hope the front office sees the trade back scenarios I proposed. I would love to work with them, just have them contact me. lol

Right .... I think if Grier and Flores are in synch w/ Ross the probability is greater that we trade down and not up. It was reported that Ross wanted Tannenbaum to trade down and pick up extra picks in 2017. That would have been the wise move. I think we still should try to get as many picks in the top 100 this year. Hold serve and get the qb in 2020.

I was at the Bears OT win. With my boys. Again I wouldnt trade that moment for anything. My oldest was born in 99'. I named him Daniel after Dan Marino. We met Dan at a trade show in NJ that season and he rubbed my wifes belly for good luck.

He started watching football with me around the 2007 season. My youngest around 2010. Never had a winning team .
No one wants a Super bowl more then me. I became a fan right around 73. I was 6. I've never experienced a Championship with this team. But moment like the Bears win and the Miami Miracle are tiny moments of Glee that hold us until we win it all one day.

Pat's fans are fat and spoiled. WE will really enjoy that championship when it comes!!!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I just played a draft simulator in which I traded our #13 pick to NY Giants for their #17, 95, 132 , and 143. These were my picks;

#13 Traded to Giants - they picked Drew Lock, QB Missouri
#17 Brian Burns, Edge, Florida State
#48 Erik McCoy, C, Texas A&M
#78 Andy Isabella, WR, UMASS
#95 Tyree Jackson, QB, Buffalo
#116 Gerald Willis, DL, Miami
#132 Malik Grant, S, Marshall
#143 Michael Jordan, G, Ohio State
#151 Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
##233 Greg Dortch, WR, Wake Forest
#234 Jahlani Tavai, LB, Hawai'i

So in trading back 4 spots I picked up an Edge player (Brian Burns) who was best available at 13, QB Tyree Jackson at 95, S Malik Grant at 132, and G Michael Jordan at 143

I picked Isabella at 78 because he is really fast and Dortch at 233 because he just makes plays. I also thought Love at 151 was a great value.

Let me know what you think.

Astro, you only lost 4 spots when you gave up your 13. Treasure has repeatedly said that he wants to go back to the 3rd and 4th rounds. He's said so on many occasions.

Please do not provide an opportunity for him to say that "this was all I was saying all along and ChyrenB kept attacking me."

Burns is so thin it scares me. I like Isabelle but Im still trying fill other positions in rnd 3. I got Jordan, Jackson and Love on my 'draft board'. McCoy is a guy I would like to see wearing a phins Jersey.

Burns was #6 on that big board, I could have had the clemson edge rusher or DL, just went best available in position of need.

As for giving anyone ammunition against anyone else, sorry dudes, am just putting my two sense in. If I agree or disagree with you its not personal.

As for trading back I actually came up with a scenario when we would pick up 7 picks between rounds 2 and 5 with three trade backs to eventually landing at end of first round. It is fun for my numerical mind playing with the value chart.

Also, I am glad you are all here. Not many Dolphin fans in Eastern NC where I live.

GET IT, TREASURE!!!! ASTRO ONLY TALKED ABOUT MOVING BACK 4 SPACES TO NUMBER 17.

YOU ADVOCATED TRADING BACK INTO THE 2ND, 3RD OR EVEN 4TH ROUND!!!

Here are some more stats for you guys to chew on:

The history of football proves you need to pick a QB in the top 6 picks in order to get a great QB.

Where present HOF QB's were drafted(i am not including current QB's, and the numbers start in 1936):

12 in first six picks (5 in #1 spot)
0 in picks 7 - 10
2 in picks 11-20
1 in picks 21 - end of first round
2 in 2nd round
3 in 3rd
2 in 4th
1 in 5th
0 in 6th - 8th (I know Brady will be there eventually)
1 in 9th
1 in 10th
2 after 10th
2 undrafted (Moon and Warner)

SO we have 15 drafted in first round and 14 drafted in every other round or not even drafted.

So yes it is possible to get a HOF QB after the first round, but not probable. SO unless we get into the top six I say draft one next year.

Interestingly enough, is only one class has more than 1 HOF QB and that is of course 1983. Which also produced 2 of the 3 QB's drafted later than 6 in the first round (#14 Kelly, #27 Marino).

So that also suggests that there are usually not multiple great QBs in any one draft. I do understand that some QBs don't make the HOF that are very good and win super bowls, just throwing out numbers for you.

Chyrene you do realize that we are not in a court room right? eye rolling smiley

Just be normal for once and engage in the conversation at hand. Whats with the grand questions and trying to get me to say something like you gonna have me pulled in front of some committee later and have me banned?

If its not a poll addressing a specific question from a thread you are always trying to force an agenda .

Just stop it already. Stop focusing on how MANY spots do we trade back vs. whatever your silly ignorant rationale is. Your brain cant stand being dead wrong. The entire board sees it, I see it.

1st round picks (QBs) are not always they answer. Sometimes they are. But except for Haskins I dont see anyone worthy of it for the Miami Dolphins. Even then For this team , here and now , We need more draft picks. We need bodies. Some hot shot with no one to protect him isnt going to do us any good. And if you would do your homework and educate yourself just a bit you would see next years QB draft is that much better.

But again your just like the child in the Toy store as usual. You want it now and will throw a tantrum on the floor. Let the grown ups handle this.....sorry to spank you publicly and often , but its the only way children can learn.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Ok lets get back to the subject at hand, trading in the draft. My latest wild trade back has miami trading back with NY Giants, Houston and Kansas City netting me 3 thirds, 1 fourth 3 fifths and 2 sevenths, for moving back from #13 to #29 (that is 9 extra picks for dropping down):

My draft went like this:

29 Garrett Bradbury, C , NC State
48 Charles Omenihu, DL, Texas
78 Michael Deiter, OT, Wisconsin
86 Tyree JAckson, QB, Buffalo
92 Riley Ridley, WR, Georgia
95 Maxx Crosby, Edge, E. Michigan
116 Sione TakiTaki, LB, BYU
132 Hunter Renfrow, WR, Clemson
143 Beau Benzschawel , G, Wisconsin
151 Antonio Wesley, WR, TTU
161 Kendall Sheffield, CB, Ohio State
180 Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
220 Greg Dortch, WR, Wake Forest
223 Jahlani Tavani, LB, Hawai'i
234 Austin Bryant, Edge, Clemson
245 Mitch Hyatt, OT, Clemson

I am sure this is an unrealistic scenerio, but I think these 9 extra players would make us a better team that whoever we could pick at #13.

"The history of football proves you need to pick a QB in the top 6 picks in order to get a great QB."

I like the analysis. However, I think that it doesn't really reflect more recent history as is appropriate. I love that Aikman and Elway won a good handful of SBs 20+ yrs ago as #1 overall.

However, history since then suggests that SB-winning QBs are found outside of the top 6 in the vast majority of instances...starting with undrafted grocery sacker Warner...Dilfer who was top 6, but flamed out with TB...9th rounder Brad Johnson...Brady and his cheating ways...some later 1st, 2nd, 3rd rounders (Rapelisberger, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson, Flacco, Foles). In fact the only SB winners taken #1 are Mannings.

Couple of concessions in this:
1. I know I used SB-winning (cuz that's most important to me) vs. "great" or "HOF"
2. it does seem that in very recent history non-Brady SB QBs (not winning, but competing) are generally from top 6, so maybe the very newest trend is to find "best chance" in top 6. Encouragingly, Goff & the dude from Philly are also very young in their careers

tsstamper: I agree with what you said. But this is the ultimate team sport. Plenty of decent (not HOF) QBs have won the Superbowl. It takes a team.... actually three teams, offense, defense, special teams.... to win the Super Bowl.

Brady has won 6 SBs, but with any kind of bad luck would have only won the last one(5 of the six were won...1 in overtime, 1 on a stupid call by Pete Carroll, and 4 by 3 points). So it was not just the offense that carried them to victories.

We need consistent QB play, but that comes with a strong offensive line. Of course defense wins championships so we need to get better there as well.
