I'm curious- has anybody watched any of the Alliance of American Football? What do you think?
I have been rather impressed -against my will- with the quality of play. It's real PRO football, in my opinion better than the college game. These guys, in many cases, just needed reps and seasoning for their talent to blossom, or even become apparent. I would like to see NFL teams send their marginal talent to this league to see if they can develop. It seems to me that this is the minor league that pro football needs to develop new talent, not quite so hit-or-miss as the draft. I also like that there aren't so many penalties called as in the League. I find some of their minor rule differences intriguing, and this seems like the place to try out rules changes that the NFL Competition Committee has or will propose. I think they should expand the league a bit, and really get behind it. I think it has potential.

Apparently, I may be alone in this. After 31 views, only two votes and no replies. Oh, well.

Apparently, the NFL doesn't care too much for the AAF, either. I'm hearing that, due to lack of money, this league is almost certain to fold. Personally, I think that some sort of minor league would be beneficial to the NFL. College football is, by its very nature, a very different game.

I watched Orlando play Birmingham a few weeks ago. Watched about 1-1/2 quarters. I thought it was awful. to me, it looked like the 4th quarter of an NFL preseason game - unwatchable.

Finished w/ the AAF after 2 weeks. 90% of these guys could not make it on an NFL roster. Lots of guts and hard working guys but not nfl quality.

No, probably not- but, what about the other 10%? Every year in the League, some nobody from off the street comes in for one reason or another and suprises everybody by playing very well, at least for a while.

*Update- the AAF suspended operations today- I doubt that we'll see them again. Too bad. I still think that the NFL could benefit from some sort of minor league playing NFL-style football.
