Are you answering how many SHOULD return, Sam or how many WILL return? The question is how many WILL return.

If the pattern continues, all that stink WILL return. That means every one of them WILL return.

No worries Sam, check the phins.com news wire - You can celebrate. Looks like the Dolphins will be moving on from RT17.

Let's just hope that we end up with a new QB who gives the team a better chance instead of taking 2 steps backwards. Same goes for the new coaching staff...BTW, we just lost Darren Rizzi to the Saints.

They never used Tannehill in the way in which he would be most effective.

He was a great High School Quarterback at Big springs.

He was a great QB and Sometimes receiver at Texas A & M.

But at the Dolphins, they tried to make him into Bob Griese without also having the Jim Langer, Larry Little, Bob Kuchenberg, Manny Fernandez, etc. necessary for him to make even a grade C.

Wide Receiver? smiling bouncing smiley

Just kidding of course....

In my opinion, there are many special team players that will remain on the roster, however, a good number of 2nd string players will not make it and, several starters will be cut or be traded to obtain more draft picks.

The team will be fielded with many new faces on the defensive line. Perhaps we can acquire one very solid LB to bolster the inconsistent LB play. Holes need to be filled at guard too. That is a must for whomever becomes the QB (rookie, journeyman or experienced veteran).

You are mistaken, they do not ALL stink, and the facts back that up. An amazing amount of ex-Dolphins have made the Pro Bowl and post-season games, not just this year (Suh, Pouncey, Williams) but also in years past (Larry Izzo, Lamar Miller and others). The problem seems to be that our coaches and front office can't tell which ones they are, or have excuses why getting rid of these guys is "best for the team". They seem to not be able to get these players to play up to their potential anyway. This would indicate that we have some of this type of player on the team now.
Hopefully, this newest regime can stop the bleeding.

Rick

LOL. I meant as read option or wildcat QB. And that means occasionally a wideout.

Tannehill was never the problem. No offensive line, injuries, horrible coaching decisions.Several distractions......and he NEVER complained. Not even now as he is being blamed for everything that is so wrong with the Dolphins. Was he Dan Marino? Of course not. If your waiting for that your going to be forever disappointed. But he was extremely athletic and capable of winning a championship. Like Marino proved it takes a TEAM...not 1 player to win a Superbowl. The Miami Dolphins are failures.......Not Ryan Tannehill.

BUT good news is that we will be Superbowl bound the minute hes cut right? I mean he seems to be everyones laser focus on why we sucked.

Whoo Hoo! Superbowl at the Hard Rock next season! eye rolling smiley

Marino was a guy with a great offense and no defense. My ex wife, a Baltimore Colts fan at the time, used to say that all other teams had to do is outscore us because we had no defense. I also remember times when we had no running game. We lost the SuperBowl played at the Rose Bowl because we couldn't make a first down to run out the clock and had to give the ball back to Riggins.

Ha, ha. Everyone recognizes that the absence of a passing game was NOT what we DIDN'T have under Marino.

The point was that you need a COMPLETE team....NOT that we won't with Tannehill being used properly.

You know what puzzles me, TC??? Instead of just joining me and saying they are misusing him, why do you insist on defending management. Are you an Uncle Tom for Dolphin ownership?

I would not say they all stink but I would say very few deserve to return. Im happy to see Tanne go even when things were right around him I never saw enough from him to make me think that he could take us to the next level. Goff and Prescott were sacked often but elevated their teams. New coaches, new GM new qb let's go.

There are so many holes that it would be easier to pick where Miami doesn't need new blood.
Long snapper. I never hear complaints about him, he should get resigned. If he isn't too old.

I pretty much agree w/ your projections. I hope we attempt to trade players w/ value 6th or 7th rnd picks for Amendola and Alonzo. Try to get more for Tanne and Parker. Im for trading Jones for a 4th. Too much duplicity between him and McDonald. I would keep O'leary and include Smythe in a trade package again duplicity (good blockers, limited as receivers).

Also Im hoping Danny Shelton follows Flores to MIA as an UFA. For QB I would try to bring in Joe Flacco for 2 years. Some might laugh but Flacco's strength are the long ball (better use of Stills. Lewis, Grant) and he knows how to utilize his TE's (which we have been under utilizing). He is an ugly duckling at qb but might be our best option for where we are right now.

WTF are you talking about? You are not very confident in your arguments becuase you always want someone to "join" you. If that doesnt work you start a poll to show how many think like you so You must be right.

Im not defending anybody. I watched Tannihill practice from day 1. Trust me he was incredible to watch. Incredible raw talent and athleticism. My argument always has been and always will be... .lack of coaching , several Offensive coordinators, and an extreme offensive lack of any Oline protection. The fact that he was still a very capable QB at times is nothing short of amazing.

Hopefully Flores does better with the next Rookie QB.And doesnt destroy him like a 17 yr old with a new Dodge Viper.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You JUST said yourself that he was athletic. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

Doesn't that mean that he should NOT have been confined to the pocket??????????

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

How often is Cam Newton confined to the pocket???????????

Tannehill is NOT BOB GRIESE.

He gets nervous and falls to pieces inside the pocket.

For Godsakes, just look at his face.

So I've just now realized that as much as you talk about Tannehill, his jersey and your son, you really are a servant of the status quo and whoever the hell is in charge, no matter how lousy they are!!!

If you were a true fan of Tannehill, you'd be mad at the mess they have made of and continue to make of his career.

By the way, TC and the other readers, there is something wrong with your posting. Everytime I try to hit the quote function and then type from there, the message comes out blank when I hit "preview". The above response I did was like this one, just typed without the quote function

Come to think of it, Treasure. You might be carrying around a virus and for your own protection, you should get your pc or whatever device you use checked out. That same virus may allow whoever is hacking you into your financial information.

Chyrene, the rest of your post makes no sense. He never made a great pocket passer because the oline never gave him 2-3 seconds to create one. Dont believe me? Go start a poll.....eye rolling smiley

I love it when peoplelaugh at my warnings.

It relieves me of any guilt for laughing at their later misfortunes which I tried to warn them of and they laughed off.

I've got my soft drink and popcorn, Treasure. I'm waiting to hear that someone cleaned out your bank account because your petty feud with me and Sam over Tannehill was so important that you could not think of anything else.

I for one would like to see RT behind a line that gives him time to go through three or four progressions per play and throw to a group of guys that actually get open more often than not.

Not going to happen with us, but regardless, I'd still like to see it.

The quote function is not operating. My tests didn't work. I've had to do it the old fashioned way and reference the person, and pasting in the comment with quotes. E.g.--

Ken stated: "Not going to happen with us, but regardless, I'd still like to see it."

Ken in the early part.....say from 2012 thru 2015 or 2016, he's DID get that the time necessary for any average pro QB but would get sacked because inevitably, no Olineman can block forever without holding at some point. Tannehill would just nervously look around until his protection broke down.

That's what Sam and I complained about then.

It seemed like he waited without making some kind of a move to scramble until he got sacked.

He was very unconfortable in the pocket.

So you have no argument. Zero zilch as usual.........so you have to wish some weird ecominic crime on me that you invented? You hit a new low.

At least Sam is in a good mood. His Patriots won....
