SCPhinsFan--that was my thoughts exactly when I heard GB fired him. That would be fine with me as long as his buddy Philbin stayed out of the picture.

Why? his unimaginative offense? Wasting arguably the best QB in the game's best years?

You're getting what we already have.

Below are comments from ESPN.

"Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin will serve as the interim head coach. Philbin was 24-28 in three-plus seasons as the Miami Dolphins' head coach from 2012 to '15. He was with the Packers for nine years before he was hired by the Dolphins and returned as offensive coordinator for this season."

GB offense is not hitting on all cylinders. Could Joe Philbin have something to do with it? The answer maybe "yes." McCarthy's choice for offensive coordinator--his firing because of failure.

McCarthy is Adam Gase. Philbin has the title of OC much like Dowell Loggains.

McCarthy called the plays.

And before Chyren goes nuts I'm not defending Philbin. Just pointing out facts.

McCarthy had one of the most talented QBs in the league and look at that offense. What do you think he'd do with Tannehill?

At least the Packers got one Superbowl title with McCarthy. Gase isn't going to get us squat.

No, JSMO8 I now think the problem was higher than Philbin.

I agree, chryen. It goes all the way to Ross but he isn't selling so our only hope is he brings someone in with some, like the browns did, to run the show.

I think the way gase calls a game he's trying to prove he's smarter than everyone else.

Philbin was kind of a dork but at least we were in games against quality opponents until philbin went philbin.

Sorry chren but joe philbin stunk as a coach....That last second timeout against the packers on 4th down was all i needed to see. It was his call.

WHy do we get stuck with all these sorry coaches?

I was happy with the Philbin signing at the time...because of his pedigree with Green Bay and the potency of their offense. None of that translated to us however so that didn't last very long.

The guy I never liked was Sparano.

If anything, Gase's offense is worse than Philbin's and that's saying a mouthful.

In terms of points scored - if the season ends on its current trajectory of about 20/game - Gase's and Philbin's 3-yr totals will be very close to one another.

That said, Gase, in my opinion, has had more talent to work with, in general. A more seasoned Tannehill...Landry and this year's crew of talented but injured WR vs. Hartline and Wallace leading the team in receiving. So, it could be argued that Gase has done relatively worse.

I'm not 100% convinced that Gase is bad head coach material, but his fatal flaw may be that he is unable to decouple himself from the OC role that he fulfills so poorly.

gase also had hindsight and chose to keep tannehill. Philbin didn't have that and wanted to replace him.

That alone should bring about the demise of adam gase.

Yeah cause Tannehill is the only problem.

Gase keeping him in the pocket is one of them.

He's the main problem. This is gase's roster. He built this. He said he doesn't value guards highly.

Most QBs can have success with a pro bowl line in front of them. Sustaining that model is the problem. Injuries happen. At some point you need a QB that can pick up the slack.

It's year 7 and the 2nd staff. At what point is enough enough?

And Gase chose to keep him to prove he was better than philbin.

His gigantic ego also brought in Cutler and Osweiler.

Clean house and cut Tannehill. His career path with follow Henne's.

I am one of the few who thinks we can win with Tannehill. I think LB's and the O-line are more of a problem than Tannehill. The LB's have sucked for years and the O-line is Swiss cheese. Tannehill has proven he can play and win with this team.

I also think we should be drafting a QB but I would not reach or give up a lot to get one.

Injuries have been another issue this year. I think I saw that 14 Phins are on the injury report this week compared to NE's 4.

Football is a violent sport and injuries will happen no matter how prepared the team is, however, could some of the blame be put on the trainers & medical staff for not doing their job well enough?

In other words Grimey, you are saying that our defense is a bigger problem than our offense. Right?

Honestly Chyren, they both have their issues. Our O-line is garbage. Our LB's are garbage. We have a good young secondary. I believe we have good RB's. We can win with our current QB. Our TE's are not used at all. I really do like our receivers when they are all healthy. Our aging D-line fails to get constant pressure.

This team needs a lot of pieces to compete with the big boys. I am happy we stayed competitive in most games this year with all the injuries and such but we are far from a deep playoff push.

I do believe we should draft a QB every year till we hit on one. I do not want to give up a lot or reach for one just to satisfy that position though.

Another big factor for me is the coach. We need a coach with balls. When is the last time we have completely out played a team. I want to see our offense explode and have no mercy. I want to see our defense completely shutout our opponent.

The last time we did that was last year against New England...

The single biggest reason we are where we have been for so long is that we have had 9 head coaches since 2001.

That's an average of a new coach every 1.88 seasons...let that sink in for a minute.

Bingo. Tannehill hasnt exactly had much consistency since his arrival.every season its either a new HC, A new OC , new lineman, Runing back , recievers....you name it.Doesnt complain and still plays at a relatively high level IMO,

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

The dude has definitely had an uphill battle his entire NFL career and he is definitely far from the worst of the problems this teamt has. I think if he had a good HC from the get go he'd have had a lot more success.

Sorry. I've seen this movie the past 7 years and know how it ends.

I don't want to give Alex Smith lite a 3rd coaching staff to ruin. And if we do clean house and keep tannehill you guys will use that as an excuse.

Did the chiefs massively upgrade their roster this past offseason or did they upgrade the QB?
