For a team that's seen so many injuries I'll be happy just to see a team motivated to still win. I think Gase does a great job preparing the team , its the execution and adapting /play calling that's suspect at times. Our defense has to do better. I'm pulling for them !!

"They win ugly and they lose ugly," opinion of Bill Cowher today on the NFL pregame show about the Dolphins.

Hopefully, the Dolphins can "win ugly" today versus the latter. thumbs up

Gase lost this game. Plain and simple. Protecting a lead and the running game is working, passes twice and runs on 3rd and long. He's a moron. If I was the owner, I'd fire him before the flight home. Season over. Again.

The season was over the second Ross gave the keys to his franchise to 3 of the dumbest incompetents that have ever been associated with an NFL team. I'm sick to my stomach watching this crap week after week.

Very bad play calling. Gase needs to hire an offensive coordinator or go back to being one. Tanny played admirably

If you do the math...Tanne actually had more yards per attempt than Luck. By a very short margin but he did.

Barry Jackson
?
@flasportsbuzz
Irony is that Dolphins wait seven years to see what Tannehill, at 30, can do in situations like this. And then run on two 3rd and 10s in fourth quarter of most important game of season.

No its cause Gase is a quivering pu$$y. He doesn't take shots and calls the worse games I have ever seen. No balls at all.

Bingo. Tannehill was armed and ready, even with the depleated recieving corps......

Look at the Browns. They get rid of Hue and have scored 30+ points in the next 2 games after that. Yea against Det and Cin but they are professional teams.

Nick Chubb stepping up and Mayfield actually doing very well

Actually, I was heralding the 30 out of 37 as compared to the 17 out of 25. Tanny's 17 out of 25 is only 4 away from being 12.5 out of 25 which is only about 50% completion whereas Luck's 30 out of 37 is over 80%.

That's not playing admirably by comparison.

Question. How much better would Tannehill's stats be if he played against our defense? Some of Luck's completions, his receiver was completely uncovered. Not defending Tannehill, but as far as comparing his day to Luck's, in fairness, Luck had the luxury of facing a mediocre defense coached by a mediocre defensive coordinator. Apples to oranges?

I did a bit of a throw-by-throw analysis of the game, and Tannehill ended Q1 with a rating of 128, then Q2 with a rating of 153. If my tracking is right, he was 10-14, 186 yards and 2 TDs.

In the first 3.5 minutes of Q3, he was 3-3 for 21 yards on a drive that resulted in a FG.

That basically means that for 33.5 minutes, he was 13-17 for 207 and 2 TDs...and in the last 26.5 minutes, he was 3-7 for 4 yards.

I think I missed a throw in there somewhere cuz I know he ended up with 25 attempts and 204 yards, but it's directionally correct.

Frankly, I'm more baffled than I was before. It would be one thing if Tannehill had given Gase reason all game long not to trust him to throw legitimate passes...or if the running game had proven ineffective. But it was like Gase had the whole arsenal at his disposal in the 4th quarter...having just scored a TD early in the 4th. I don't have access to see the pass plays again where Tannehill didn't connect on 2 throws in mid 4th qtr...but my general recollection was that they were short, weak, loser-mentality play calls. Tannehill's 1st pass of the game was a zippy strike on time & on target, so his arm was there. Moreover, the running game had carried the bulk of Miami's TD drive early in the 4th quarter. And, Tannehill had shown mobility running and rolling out of pressure.

It's either completely idiotic pride & bullheadedness - i.e. I'm going to try to trick the defense cuz I'm so much smarter than them that going away from what's working will work so much better. OR it's a deep, pervasive distrust of the offense in general, and, likely, Tannehill specifically. I can't think of a 3rd option other than his story which is, basically, the players didn't execute the idiotic plays well enough for them to work (thereby bailing me out from my own play calls). The depressing thing is that both of the first 2 are utterly dysfunctional. The more depressing thing is that I think it's a combination of the two that both compound one another and muddy the waters so it can't be seen clearly what's really MOST wrong. That said, Gase is the one who has the control to muddy the waters as he has, so I put more blame there.

If I were Ross, I would tell Gase "If you want to be a HC, then you have to give up the playcalling now and be HC. If you want to be an OC, know that we'll begin looking for a true HC. No more muddiness. I have to know in these last 5 games:
- if you can be a HC, not an underperforming OC who also has HC title
- if Tannehill can play without the burden of poor playcalling"

I get that the transition mid-season would be tough (but teams have done just this thing successfully in the past as situations call for it. But, the lack of clarity is intolerable.

Those stats look good but one of those incompletions should have been a pick 6 and the 74 yd td should have been an interception.

You can't just look at that stats. You have to look at every throw to judge a qbs performance.

that said, gase is a loser and is in over his head.

I hope he and tannehill find success with their new teams.
