It’s called market value. Im sure the FO would have gladly traded Landry for 20 first round picks if there were takers.
Now, if we had Don Corleone to make them an offer they cannot refuse, maybe things would be different.

Less touchdowns albeit on less receptions by quite a bit, and he had Brady throwing to him all year. Just cracked the 1000 yard mark and played for an all around better cast around him...SO that is worth a 1st and we couldn't even get a 2nd for Landry.
My point is a first for Cooks is a lot higher than I would have thought. Good for the Pats...proof again they are the class of this division.
Regardless of what Cooks is or isn't worth, Landry was essentially given away the same way Ajayi was given away. Next year many questions will be answered about the propriety of not having locked Landry up to a contract a year ago. If Landry continues his streak of being a reception machine and Wilson/Amendola flounder, Tannenbaum and Gase will have much to answer for. If Wilson and Amendola play well, then they'll look good for having saved some money on the cap. The proof is coming.
Cooks is worth more because he can play all of the WR positions and he has speed enough to take the top off of any defense. That's worth more than a guy who plays very well in the slot.
Landry was always worth more to us than to other teams.
We painted ourselves in a corner and had to give Landry away. Teams knew that. We did not dictate the asking price they did. CLEV insulted us by giving us the lower of their 4th rnd pick. Getting punked by CLE, Sheesh.
True Phins fans put a higher price on Landry than the rest of the league
Not sure this is true but I understand BUF offered us one of its second round picks before the trade deadline and we did not bite.

To get 3 picks in the top 55, Im thinking you gotta make the trade. Phins had Landry on the roster for 4 years they should know how to defend him.
Right Stamper there is around a million things NE is doing better than us these days. The cause of our problems is on both the f/o and coaches. Coaches appear enamored w/ some of these players and the front office is dumping the cash on them.
Belichik appears to work with the front office with moving guys w/ the big salaries out. F/o and coach work together to acquire veterans that fit their system. Not only physically but attitude wise. They win so they attract veterans that want to win. We pick up dead weight, although I do like the f/a that we signed this off season. So there is hope for change on my end.
