1st Round Pick

I am all for drafting a quarterback this year to definitely replace Moore and serve as possible replacement for T'hill.

I don't see any 100% sure bets in the QB class this year. If he is available in the first round, I think we should take LB Roquon Smith. We have to be able to cover across the middle and stop the run.

A good defense will keep you in games even with a so-so quarterback (Vikings, Jags, etc.).

Agreed. However it's done, can the boneheads running this team finally fix the offensive line and no I don't mean signing journeymen like Ted Larsen or re-signing Bushrod. Without a good O line, you can't get a feel for whether your QB or your RBs are decent.

Make a run at Norwell (Panthers) and if he does not bite draft Gordon. We don't have to draft a Qb in the first rnd its ok but I don't think we have to. Most rookie qbs need to sit and learn their first year so Im thinking there will be a guy in the 3rd or even 4th rnd that we can get. Guys like Falk(3rd) Benkert (UVA) White (W KY).
Who we can spend a year developing.

I would even bring another guy in the 7th. Like Shimonek (TX Tch) or Linehan (ID).

Moore being totally bypassed at the beginning of this season and the signing of Cutler in RT's absence surprised me a lot. I didn't think Cutler was anything special especially at 10 mil to fill the void.

Exactly, Gase pi$$ed away a lot of credibility with that bone-headed move among others.

Gaze was desperate and had nobody else but cutler to sign...He knew what he had in moore.

If your starting qb goes out with injury 95 percent of the teams season is over.

SamSam -

I agree completely. Gase knew that Cutler (a known quantity) was a stopgap to try to salvage the season somewhat.

Unfortunately, the gamble didn't pay off

A "known" quantity??
It was known that Cutler was washed up. Chicago knew it. No other team wanted him. He was headed for the broadcast booth because his football career was over. Now, even Miami fans know it.
10 million dollar mistake instead of going with the guy that got you to the play-offs the year before. Absolutely brilliant.
Gase needs to reign in his ego or he'll be following Philbin out the door.

We stuck ourselves with the fork 5/6 years ago. Draft after draft we refused to bring in a solid qb behind Tanne. Wilson, A J McCarron, Cousins about 3 4 other guys we could have brought in as backups. Hell we could have brought in Keenum but we could not put pressure on our starter.

Yep it was known that Cutler was finished and Moore could not carry a team for a 9-10 game stretch. They were actually our only options last fall when it was too late to try to fix the problem.

"Moore could not carry a team for a 9-10 game stretch."
Where does that insight come from? It has been repeated numerous times as if it was fact with absolutely NOTHING to back it up.
The ONLY time we have seen Moore play a stretch was when he came into the season in relief of Henne and it was for 12 games. He started slow with 3 losses and finished with a 6 - 3 record which I would consider a strong finish.
To say that he could not carry a team for 9-10 games is speculation based on NOTHING.
By contrast, it is Tannehill that routinely finishes a season with a whimper.

Funny how Moore was the 2011 Dolphins season MVP. I think Gase's hard on for Cutler was because of his familiarity with him in the past. I think the biggest difference between them was the price tag, talent wise I didn't see Cutler being any great advantage over Moore whatsoever.

Its based on his history. Thinking like this is why the Phins organization is the laughing stock of the nfl. You really think Moore can carry us for 10 games. He has his streaks but then he sinks back to the qb that went undrafted like 10 years ago.

If Matt Moore was an nfl starter he would have at least 100 starts in his career. He probably has 25% of that.

Not hating on the guy but hell no Moore could not carry a team for a 9-10 game stretch. If he could he would have done it by now in his 10 year career.

A QB has to have a chance to play for a while. Cutler had that chance at Denver and here. Tanny had the chance. Moore has not had much of a chance.

SamSam has always said that "Moore is nothing but a backup."

I believe that the coaching staff of the Dolphins believes that too.

I just don't agree. Maybe it's my Pac 10 west coast bias but I just don't agree.

Draft Rosen or Darnold!

Thank you Chyren, for gods sake can we get a QB in Miami for a change. 6 yrs and tranny hasn't done shit. Stop with all the he is getting better crap. He does not fit the mold of what this team is and he isn't going to do it now, draft for the future next year is a worthless year anyway

And what might that be? I can't tell what this team currently is, other than collectively inadequate.

I am all for drafting a qb. We need at least one on the roster right now.

808 i am glad you liked my wording, I cant stand the guy so I call him tranny lol. This team needs a solid qb that pull a win out at the end, can drive the field and command from the field. Lets be honest all of you .... we are down 24-20 one minute left in the game, which one of us if given a choice would have tranny as your qb?? nobody we would all choose someone else, and whomever you choose is the type of qb this team needs.

Feb 15, A J McCarron's arbitration date. McCarron's is fighting for UFA status vs the Bengal's RFA. McCarron has a case. Benga's stashed him on the non football related injured list at the beginning of his rookie year. They say this time does not count toward his career, bs.

I like McCarron. If he gets UFA I think we should take a shot.

Here are my current thoughts while trying to realistic as to where players will be available.

1. Roquan Smith, LB
2. Luke Falk, QB
3. Dallas Goedert, TE
4. Frank Ragnow or Sean Welsh, OL

This would shore up all of our most pressing needs, would add depth and would allow us to draft a DE in the fourth round to replace Wake or add to our CB rotation. We could also take a flier on a late round RB as well.
