Now i wouldnt mind if we drafted OL and LB the rest of the draft. We still have 6 more picks after this.

Might have more picks if we trade down a couple of picks maybe the 3rd or 5th rounds.....Depends where they see value and not.

The key to what you said, SamSam, was "the rest of the draft" which means"after that."

That is the difference between you and Treasure. Treasure wants us to trade that first pick, get a bunch of 3rd and fourth round picks, and then pick up offensive and defensive linemen and then a quarterback who either will make history in performing as well as or better than Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold and Rudolph or if not have as much success as the typical fourth round QB.

And Treasure, you can always cite examples. Tom Brady himself was not picked until the 6th round. But the exception does not prove the rule. It rarely does.

(Meanwhile we would have picked up some very great offensive and defensive linemen err ones we got in the third and fourth round. confused smiley)

So Treasure's strategy for us in this draft is get a bunch of FOURTH ROUND OR THIRD AT BEST offensive linemen, defensive linemen and a quarterback all in those late rounds.

Meanwhile a draft reminiscent of the Luck, Tannehill draft goes untouched by us in the first round.

Yeah, I also saw that.

If he is as good as some think he is, he will be gone by Miami's pick, or someone would have traded into Miami's spot to get him (team-needy Qcool smiley.

Getting him is all fine and dandy, but that would mean Miami's first round pick would not be on the field the first season. If RT got hurt again, Mayfield probably wouldn't be ready. Granted, he could be one of those guys that can just step on the field and never relinquish the job, but that doesn't happen that often.

If Miami did draft him #1 and he was terrific, then so be it, but highly doubtful he will beat out RT.

For Mayfield to be successful (if he does get on the field), Miami has to greatly improve their OL. Of course that would also help RT.

I think the only way this guy is coming to Miami is for a vacation. Dolphins won't pick a QB in the first round of the draft...too many other needs besides the front office is betting on RT to be back, better than ever. It's their call and they routinely guess wrong.

Miami cannot afford to gamble on a QB with their first pick; way too many holes to fill. Miami needs to get a stud with their first pick, one that will be an immediate starter.

Miami is not in a position to draft someone in the first round who (probably) will not play for them for a couple of years, at least. They must hit paydirt right away!

Man.....Have you been smoking some of that legal recreation weed in Cali?

First off YOU DONT GIVE UP A FIRST ROUNDER by trading down. You EXCHANGE it. And the further back you exchange it say......5-6 spots the more value you get. So you still get a first rounder and you get additional picks depending how far back your exchange is.

You can draft down several times and get several more picks. Jimmy Johnson did his homework and did this all of the time. He knew exactly who he wanted and where they were on the board AND he knew what other teams wanted/needed.

Its a science that creates great Teams. You just dont blow a load over a Mel Kiper well written review .

I get Sam Sam. But I thought you were smarter then this Chyrenne.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Despite Marino falling to Miami, he was rated as one of the top QBs, if not the top QB. Woodley, as Shula put it, was an athlete playing QB; Marino is a QB playing QB." 2018 is not the same situation.

RT is Miami's QB. Sure, that knee could give out again, but today's medical expertise has fixed these types of injuries to where the player comes back 100%, and in some cases, better than before. We can only hope that is the case with RT.

Miami is going to have to find themselves a veteran backup, anyway, so there will be a backup in the event RT doesn't make it. How much confidence does Gates have in Fales? I don't know, but we shall see.

BTW, when Shula called me and asked my advice on if he should put Marino in the game, I told him, "Hell yeah!"

QB is the most important position on the team.

Heading into his 7th season tannehill is still average at best. You can build a steel fortress as the oline and our ceiling would still be 11 wins and that's if everything goes our way.

If Mayfield is that at 11 they'd be fools not to take him. He doesn't need to learn how to play the position, he needs to learn the plays. Tannehill is still a work in progress.

At 43 I'd take Billy Price from Ohio State.

The one year Tannehill had competition he was beaten out by David Garrard. To bad he got injured.

Jax just played in the conference championship game with Bortles. Do you think they're going to try to upgrade at QB or have they found a sustainable winning formula and are going to just add some pieces this year?

If we draft baker mayfield we will dominate the afc east for many year just like we did in the 90s.

If not, then we have to settle for been out of the playoffs over and over just like weve been for the last 20 years.

Treasure, you put me back in time with that sit com.

But let me put you back in time.

The Dolphins have just lost the SuperBowl played at the Rose Bowl to the Redskins and we didn't complete a single pass in the second half. Riggins just ran the second half over us.

It's now April and the draft is here. Woodley was our Super Bowl QB (and that comment that Shula made about Woodley being an athlete playing QB was not made before the draft).

Elway has just been drafted.

Should I start a poll on what your fellow posters think you would have done Treasure?

There was FAR LESS REASON TO DRAFT A QB WITH THE FIRST PICK THEN THAN NOW.

I know if you were GM, you would not have drafted Marino. Your Shula quote only means he understood it, not you.

But stepping back and thinking about you, Treasure. You are loyal. That is a very admirable quality. Police officers need to be loyal because their very lives depends on their buddies having their back and they having their buddies back. So I understand where (or why) you are coming from the place you are coming from with Tannehill.

Luck or luck?

Not bullying at all.

CNN? Oh not Fox News, I guess. There is a lot more distance between the Democratic party and cNN than there is between the GOP and FoxNews.

How did those fake polls work on election night? The ones that stated the GOP had NO PATH to winning? drinking smiley Polls do not prove anything especially when you go to target areas to try and get a bias result.

My point is you always seem to want to start a separate thread with a stupid poll as a way of proving argument. You are very big on Bullying tactics. (what liberal isn't) Its wearing thin and they are losing bigtime.

I'm more of a facts guy. I do my research , put it all up on a board , analyze it, and let the truth be what it is. And I will admit I'm wrong when I am.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Well, let me ask you this. Let's forget about what will happen or what should happen.

Just why do you think Mayfield would tweet this?

Is it just that he likes the Miami climate?

Is it because he thinks there is where he will get paid the most?

Or just possibly do you think it's because in some way he sees an opening here? ....Either because he can beat out the competition or that he will get the job no later than in 2 years.

I can't do a poll because you have ordered me not to on pain of arrest. LOL.

Less reason to draft a QB then than now?

Treasure already gave you stats on RT (twice). Pretty damn good for a guy who is "average".

You prefer replacing RT more than you prefer replacing Woodley? You do recall, don't you, that Woodley wasn't a real good QB. Remember the name WoodStrock? Don Strock had to get in the game on numerous occasions to try to pull out a victory for Miami. Remember that double overtime game vs SD? Woodley started the game, but it was Strock who almost got Miami the win.

Correct, Woodley did not complete a second half pass. Woodley! Shula wanted to get Strock in there but the D couldn't get the Redskins off the field. Yep, Riggins ran right down the Dolphins' throats, but he probably wouldn't have scored that TD if our DB Don McNeal didn't have the cast on his arm where he couldn't grab onto Riggins. Could have been a completely different outcome.

You are correct; Shula said that after Marino was drafted.

Would Miami take Mayfield if he was there at 11? Probably, but Miami could also go with whomever is on the top of their board. But, as I said in an earlier post, highly doubtful Mayfield will be there when Miami picks.

Marino was one of the top rated QBs during that draft. Shula was shocked when he fell to them. Damn right We fans would have wanted Marino.
