Broncos v. Dolphins: Game Day Thread

Nice sunny day in South Florida.

Today the Dolphins face the Broncos. We don't play them very often and they aren't hitting on all cylinders this year. The Dolphins could be competitive...in fact, it is conceivable that the offense puts up more points than usual.

Close friends of mine are going to the game so I expect to get the low down from them later today or tomorrow.

At this moment, I don't know which QB will be starting for the Dolphins...it's a crap shoot in my opinion. Whoever it is, I can only hope our receivers are in position to catch and run with the ball.

The game starts at 1 pm or so.

Go Dolphins. smiling bouncing smiley

This game has a Superbowel feel to it. (NOT)
A meeting of two tactical geniuses positioning their respective teams for a play-off run. (NOT)
The entire football world will be watching with bated breath. (NOT)

So far we have outpointed the Broncos. The Broncos appear to be less capable than the Dolphins on offense...so they are really inept.

Two turnovers helped the Dolphins.

We're having a contest to see who can give away the game. So far the Broncos want it more (the loss, that is).

7 mins + remaining. Now's the time to grind out the running game and split carries between running backs. Time of possession is already better than 3:2 in our favor. Kill the clock, Phins.

About 5 minutes left...I can safely say we "got this game in the bag."

Denver fans must really be frustrated. Going from SB Champs to chumps in two short seasons.

This clearly points to how important an effective QB is to a team. When the QB has things together it builds confidence in all the surrounding players on the team...not just on offense but on defense and special teams.

With the trio of QBs the Broncos have used, it shows that the team is flat. Denver has shown little heart. Once they get a QB to lead them I suspect they will be playoff contenders.

If the Dolphins could play Cleveland next week instead of the Patriots (again) I sure would be more comfortable about today's win. However, this game plan will not carry over against the Patriots who don't make many mistakes.

When this franchise first got started, the Colts were our sworn enemy. Then the Jets won the SB and afterwards, it was the Bills and OJ.

Then, I never thought I would see the day when the helpless Boston Patriots would ever be a threat.

True, but...

The Bills weren't much of a rival back in the day (OJ's time). I think we won every single game against them in the 1970s.

But in the 80s with Kelly as QB they were a major thorn in our side for sure.

Yeah, you're right but my point was that even though we were dominating, the Bills were still our main competitors and more to the point, the Patsies were never anything but a doormat before Brady, which was pretty late in the history of the AFC.

Chreyn, I was thinking more season-wide. I believe Joseph has converted that once fearsome super bowl Denver D into a team of soft spongey ponies. I've read some Denver NFL forums, the fans hate him. I hated him when he was here working with our D- too.

Our staff today I guess did a decent job of prepping these guys for the game today to get back some badly lost respect. Let's see if it continues. Maybe they can keep it close Monday night or pull a miraculous upset.

On another note, the coach I miss the most is Bowles. Congrats to Bowles today and really on this season. He's showed me he could have been pretty good over here if we had given him the chance.

But I wonder how they feel about the Cutler thing now. Or maybe Cutler was just playing lights out because of pay back being traded to the Bears.

A lot of guys were playing for HC Gase- Gase was in line to be the HC of the Broncos. The Heir Apparent, but Elway stepped in and chose Joseph. Broncos fans didn't like Gase either btw- then or now.. but it showed in the game that Gase felt slighted that he was over-looked. Him and Julius Thomas had some extra axes to grind against the Denver Franchise. Wish they'd bring that fire more often.

Also Toko, guess who else may have felt slighted by Denver and took it out on them in this game?

Go with your first instinct.

Football is played on the gridiron, not in the beauty contest that is the draft, and not in the pud-pulling contest that is the Fantasy League.
