1. Marino - How can there be an argument?

2. Griese - Can't stand the disrespect Bob sometimes gets. It was a different era and he did exactly what a winning QB of that era did. Maybe the 'QB smartest' guy of the bunch. Had more fire and toughness than people gave him credit for. I mean could you imagine any QB today breaking his leg and 12 weeks later starting a Superbowl??? The original 'Joe Cool' IMO.

3. Pennington - Glass shoulder not withstanding, probably the best of the rest as far as pure QB talent goes.

4. Fiedler - I rank him before Tannehill simply because of the results he got. If only Fiedler had an arm, he would have been 3 and we might have had a few more playoff wins. Tough, smart guy, with leadership skills, led us to our last division title (17 years ago sad smiley ugh).

5. Tannehill - Hard working and physically talented, If Ryan had the instincts of Pennington, the leadership of Fiedler and/or 50% of Grieses QB smarts, he would be 3 (or maybe 2 ha!)

6. Woodley - I know its smacks of sacrilege to some, but I never was that impressed with Woodley. To me he was like Super Matt Moore...with LESS arm. Smart and scrappy he was at his best in chaos, but as soon as we HAD to pass to win, he wasn't that impressive.

7. Henne - Great arm, spotty accuracy, no wheels, a great pocket QB with little instinct in the pocket.

--Stop gap scrubs from here down. Either has beens or never weres that didn't even fit the teams they were on--
11. Culpepper (older Culpepper)
11. Frerotte
11. Rosenfels
11. Green

12. Feeley spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

The thing with Tannehill is, I doubt very seriously anyone is telling him NOT to run or NOT to improvise when he NEEDS to... I just think he doesn't know (at least not quickly enough) WHEN he needs to. The 'IT' just isn't there, very little QB instinct IMO.

Sadly, though it would take very little to be #3 in this bunch...

I get where you're coming KB. Here's my problem. I think very definitely there WAS someone telling Tanny to be a traditional drop back in the pocket QB.

But that's not him by nature. From High School in Lubbock to A & M, he was a gunslinger. In fact, last year he got injured playing like he did in Lubbock.

But in between those times it was first Philbin and until last year, toward the end, every other coach that tried to make him into a Bob Griese. Finally, late last year, they decided to let him "let loose."

Unfortunately, he tore up his foot. Well, that's the price of tea in China. But it hasn't happened to Cam Newton so it does not HAVE TO HAPPEN to all run and gun QBs.

It's like buying a race horse and strapping a plow on him and have him plow the fields.

Ronnie Brown had more TD passes than many of our QBs.

Smartest, indeed. When I tell younger fans that Bob *called his own plays in the huddle* in the days before radios in the helmet, and also without signals from the sideline.

Here is my list:

1) Dan Marino
2) Bob Griese
3) Ryan Tannehill
4) Chad Pennington
5) Jay Fiedler
6) Matt Moore
7)Scott Mitchell

I am not listing anyone else as they were dreadfully bad.
Ryan Tannehill, has been improving year by year. He has never really regressed. Aside for a freak knee injury, he is by far the bright spot of the Dolphins moving forward.

Okay, here is my ranking of them

1. Dan Marino
2. Bob Griese
3. David Woodley
4. Jay Fiedler
5. Chad Henne
6. Chad Pennington
7. Daunte Culpepper
8. Ryan Tannehill
9. Gus Frerotte
10. Trent Green
11. Sage Rosenfelds

LOL. I know you guys are gonna scream and holler

Explanation for Marino over Griese is that Marino was an unnatural talent at passing and that talent was so superior it puts him pass Griese who was the better overall talent as a field general.
