I realize that evaluating how college talent will translate to the NFL is a difficult thing and that QB is probably the hardest position to try and do that for. All the physical skills in the world don't offset lack of QB instincts that can function at NFL game speed, the 'IT' we so often talk about.

I also realize that with the wingnuts picking talent for our team, its more akin to throwing darts drunk and blindfolded than actually 'evaluating' anything.

Swing for the fences for once, what can it hurt? Can it get any worse?

This time next year I much rather be rooting for the QB we took in the first round to show something than bitching about about how Tubby the OLineman we took just hasn't helped or shaking my head in disbelief that we traded up for another Deion Jordan.

NOT IN THE FIRST ROUND AS THE THREAD SUGGESTS.

That's just silly and idiotic so Tannbum will probably do it.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

Having too many needs is a great reason, the reason to take a QB in round one.

As the CHPs say, "That's a Big 10-4, buddy."

Your not Sure if Tannys knee will hold up? He's been a brick shithouse since a Rookie. He deserves benefit of doubt.

I Am 100% sure our Oline needs rebuilding. I'm 100% sure we need a RB, CB, D line if SUH goes elsewhere.

Will a brand new rookie QB help that mess or just make you feel better?

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

LOL. I luv ya, Treasure. You can always be counted on to be loyal.

Yes, he was a brick house until he got an injury in the playoffs that kept him out for the whole next season and there is a question mark as to the fall of 2018. You DO KNOW that the April 2018 DRAFT occurs before then.....right????????????????????

So if we skip drafting the BEST QB AVAILABLE AS HIGH AS NECESSARY in 2018, then we have to wait to 2019 when the QB draft class MIGHT BE...just might be...even worse.

Besides, even if we draft the best QB in 2018 and Tanny plays 2018 season, what about the future? Matt Moore or Jay Cutler?

Come on dude. Even if Tanny had been top QB in the league since 2011, it still would be time to be looking at a replacement.

Hey, I'm the guy who has been bellyaching for years that this Jim Brown sport of the Elementary School ChyrenB has become a "Quarterback is the only player" sport.

But its true. Quarterback is too important a position to NOT DRAFT a quarterback of the future.

And for you, my good, good, friend....solely because of your man crush on Tanny.

If we draft a QB in the first round this year then RT is gone. He isn't going to cut his salary drastically so that alone means he either gets released or traded...make no mistake about that. Which leaves us worse then we are right now. A rookie starter, and nobody. The only way this makes any sense is if a stud drops to us...and again RT would be gone. We should bring in a young QB but it should be after the first round.

IMHO, we need, LB, OT, OG, C, TE, CB, DE, DT, in no particular order.

The only positions I think we don't need at the moment are, WR, RB, S, K, P.

IMHO, LB, TE, OG and OT are our biggest most pressing needs in that order.

I don't think RT will be traded, even if Miami drafts a QB in the first round, which I highly doubt.

Treasure, I believe your first sentence was aimed at me?

No one knows if RT's knee will hold up. Everyone thought he would be fine coming into last season and he didn't even make it out of the preseason. A knee is very tricky. I hope is knee does hold up.

I also said Miami has too many holes to fill to draft a QB in the first round; second yes. OL, RB, TE, LB (that can pass protect), and possibly edge rusher, in no particular order.

Miami is going to have to trim the fat during the offseason, or they won't have enough money to go after quality FAs. Can't keep signing people just to have a warm body.

OL definitely has to be worked on, either thru the draft or FA, and possibly do some shifting, i.e., Pouncy back out to guard, Tunsel back to guard, etc.

Last season until Tanny Injury ee scored enough to win 7 games straight and make the playoffs before he got hurt.

Chyren, sure you can now that the rookie wage scale is in place. But, With our salary cap situation it would be very difficult to keep RT, and Rd 1 Rookie QB, because we still have to pay Suh who isn't going anywhere, Landry who will get a big deal, Parker who will as well and the others we will have to keep as well as bring into the fold. It's not impossible but some players will have to take a pay cut...don't see that happening with RT, Suh, Parker, Landry, Stills, Jones, or really any of our high(er) priced guys.

We either take a hit in quality starters, cusp players or our depth.

You want to pick a QB in the FIRST round AND keep paying for both. All the while ignoring the glaring deficiencies at other Key positions. Hmmmmmmm. How is Andrew Luck doing? eye rolling smiley Think Marino would have went to the Superbowl first year if his Team wasn't already Superbowl status? Your being silly bro.

You want to get another driver for the car but your car still only has 2 wheels and runs on only 4 cylinders. We need to spend time and energy on getting the car running before we invest in another driver. Problem is our Parts guy cant order the right parts and over pays for the wrong ones. And your Mechanic has crappy tools and cant fix the engine with what hes given. His assistant has a coke problem and blew the engine completely. So your still blaming our driver for not bringing the car around even 1 Lap.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

I don't know if a "first rounder" will be available for the Dolphins to pick. There are 3 projected QBs that could go in the 1st round.
Two of them will go in the top 5 to franchises also in desperate need of a QB:

Josh Rosen UCLA
Lamar Jackson Louisville

will definitely be going to:

Cleveland Browns
New York Giants

The other QB //Josh Allen, Wyoming//that is projected to go in the first round has had a bad season, and will probably be reached for in some kind of top 10 Dion Jordan move. (I hope it's not the Dolphins)

On the bright side- A lot of the starting QBs lately have been 2nd rounders or later that were overlooked.

Russel Wilson comes to mind.
Garoppolo: 2nd rounder(might be good)
Cousins- ok for a 4th rounder
Prescott - ditto
Drew Brees- great career for a 2nd rounder
Derek Carr- not bad (2nd round)
Brady- no comment

Mathematically each draft pick should be seen as a lotto ticket-so the more chances you got, the better chances your draft should have of getting a functional player. The better teams have indeed stockpiled picks and have transformed the odds to increase their chances of landing better players in the later rounds. The teams that don't seem to do so well are those that move up and lose their picks.

Let's not forget our history
Compare the 2017 Redskins and 2017 Rams...remember the RG III trade?

That's why it isn't necessary to draft a QB in the first round; there will be a good one for Miami in the 2nd.

Too many holes to fill and QB is not a pressing need. I've already outlined my thoughts on QB for 2018. RT "should" return healthy, and Moore will still be there to back him up. Draft the "future" in the 2nd.

I think your 'future' QB should be drafted in the first round unless there is simply no one there that no team would ever take in the first round.

And personally, I'm sick of drafting linemen high.

Thats really silly thinking. So we should draft a player that you might enjoy , so you get a feeling of pleasure in April?

Is the draft an event to you? Are you drinking all the ESPN B.S. cool Aid.....or do you want to win championships. Come on now.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!
