Ajayi - Food for thought

A lot of talk about losing Ajayi. Last year, he was an all-pro. A deeper look into his 1,272 yards last year shows that he had 3 monster games (200+ yards) and only 1 additional 100 yard game. The remaining 11 games? He averaged only 48.8 yards a game.

He is a good running back, capable of monster games but he is also wildly inconsistent as far a game stats and production. As shown by the stats, he can be shut down on a regular basis (11 out of 15 games, or almost 75% of the time)

It just proves that the talent was there. It's up to the coaches to channel that talent on the field. Unfortunately the o-line coach had less of a passion for football and more for Las Vegas strippers. Who knows, that might be just the tip of the iceberg.

I love that kind of stats SCP. That shows that he is severely overrated. I do that kind of analysis for baseball players--some are cluster hitters and their total stats look much better than their day-to-day performance. These are the type of players that successful GMs dump.

Except hitters are one-on-one with the pitcher. A running back needs help from every member of the offense as well as the coach to call the right play to begin with. Big difference.

Maybe a better OL would have made a difference?

Precisely, Cap. And I still don't care if it was stats from last year. The Ravens have had and STILL HAVE the BEST RUN DEFENSE IN THE NFL.

true Hooligan, but you can compare Ajayi with his peers in this case. I saw Ajayi many times basically just standing on the field when his number wasn't called while his QB gets sacked. These guys esp..D. Williams, they at least throw their bodies in the action when the pressure is on. Ajayi is the epitome of a selfish player.

The Ravens were the worst ranked run defense (32) in the league when we played them...we've been over that already.
