Saturday's playoff games

Whoa, just watched Houston score a touchdown by running Lamar Miller after a fake handoff to the other back.

That's the way Lamar should be used. Either that or a fake draw and a toss to him in space.

We stupidly thought he was an Ajayi before we saw Ajayi. Lamar does not have the strength of Ajayi.

I guess we'll always miss Larry Csonka but Lamar Miller certainly wasn't it even if Ajayi isn't either.

I think we should root for Houston to win because if they win and assuming we win, then they will have to travel to Foxsboro to meet the no. 1 seed Patriots.

Whereas if Oakland wins, they have a 12-4 record and would play the no.2 seed in the AFC leaving us to go back to Foxsboro.

Of course, this all assumes the question will not be academic.

How exactly does the seeding work for the next round? I was under the impression that if the Phins win in Pitt. they will have to go to New England regardless? I thought the worst seeded team goes to New England which would be us at #6? Houston can win and go to New England instead of Miami going?

You might be right........ about it depending on your seeding rather than your record.

I instinctively thought that all six teams qualified and then were ranked on the basis of their record with the only exception being that teams that were declared the division champs would beat out another team in case of a record tie.

But if you are right, it didn't matter how that game came out....we are destined for New England.

Hardly sounds rational or fair.

If we win, we go to New England

The seeding is pretty simple for the second round.

The highest seed plays the lowest remaining seed.

Sam are you sure? I thought we went to Foxborough no matter who won.

Yeah, JC, you're right as was Finman. In the truest sense of the word, the seeding does not follow the won-lost record but division champs are seeded to the first four based on record, head to head, etc. and then the two wild cards are the 5th and 6th seeds depending on record, head to head, etc. So the Sixth seed could indeed have the 2nd best record of all the playoff teams if they are in the same division with the 1st seed division winner.

Early on it looks like if the Dolphins want to go to New England next week they'll have to buy their tickets from scalpers.
