If you owned the Dolphins

What would be your very first move?

Mine would be to fire Tannenbaum's useless ass (and the rest of him too).

I'm curious as to what the first thing others would do.

fire the moron, then trade wake and tranny
get an offensive lineman, only the 30th one in six years
trade for a tight end
then tell gase and joseph to quit pulling each others yanks and start coaching or they are gone.
Then if I was ross, ask my wife for my balls back

Wow we just cut 2 Olinemen that we should have cut at the end of last season. Totally inept. Fans have been calling for this since when!

But seriously...Tbum would be history. I would try to steal as much of the Patriots staff as I could, including Belichick. And of course I'd bring back the old uniforms.

Okay, firing Tannenbaum would be second after the pole.

Disagree. Firing Tannenbaum should come before the pole. If you put the pole up first that idiot might hire the strippers and ... Ick.

Okay. You're absolutely right. When I own the team, you'll be my GM.

I'd probably fire Tannenbaum. I just don't trust him being in control for multiple reasons, most notably:

1. He's not really a "football guy" and isn't known as a talent evaluator

2. His track record from his time with the Jets

3. His recent history with the Dolphins

I'd either find a real "football guy" to put in that position, or just eliminate the position altogether and put Gase in control. I'm kind of one of those people who thinks that whoever is doing the cooking should have control of the ingredients. Keep Grier (sp?) as nominal "GM" get I'd put Gase over him in the hierarchy.

My first act would be to call a brief news conference and apologize to the fans for taking so long to buy this sorry outfit. Then the next order of business would be to see a shrink for actually buying this sorry outfit. Then after a couple of bourbons (neat), I'd have a news conference firing Mr. Tannenbaum.

The next day, I'd begin the critical hunt for a GM who had at least 10 years experience with teams that were in the playoffs a number of times during that 10 year span. Scouts would be next who can spot talent with leadership skills

Uniforms would return to the Larry Czonka era design. The logo would be changed back too. smileys with beer

Agreed with everyone re: getting rid of Tannenbaum. Problem is I don't know who I'd replace him with because I'm pretty ignorant about who the best options would be. Ideally, the solution would be that the perfect czar would do everything else necessary to build the culture and talent for sustained winning. Would, say, an Ozzie Newsome consider such a position attractive enough to leave his role with the Ravens? Peyton Manning doing a John Elway?

The moves I'd like the organization to make after that all assume that the season is beyond hope and confirm that the current culture and talent simply aren't enough for us to even hope to compete for the playoffs year in & year out.

Gase - There would have to be a slam dunk improvement over him or he just completely loses every aspect of control over the players irreparably for me to move on from him. For what it's worth, I don't think he's done a good job of getting players to perform yet but I give him probably more than anyone grace in terms of effect of previous culture + injuries. Although I REALLY don't like McDaniels, he'd be someone I'd consider if Gase simply isn't it.

QB: Tannehill - assuming he's just not "it", I'd move on. Quite frankly, unless he simply begins clicking on all cylinders and shows without a doubt that he's not only not the problem, but a significant part of the solution, I'd save what looks to be over $10M in cap and move on.
I'd draft a QB with first pick if one is talented enough to merit the pick that high. I can't name one NCAA QB right now, so that's where I am there. Whether it's Moore or someone else, a decently-reliable back-up but max focus on trying to get right starting QB.

OL - save $7M and let Albert be not available to play somewhere else. Move Tunsil to LT, sign best avail FA G and play Tunsil, ??, Pouncey, Steen, James. My opinion is that the talent on OL is more than sufficient. When healthy and playing together, we win - even with Tannehill.

TE - significant priority here. Cameron's gone. I'd keep Sims for cheap and blow a decent wad of cash on a significant receiving threat who can block.

RB - maybe I should be more worried here, but with blocking and balance on offense, I think our RBs ought to be able to succeed to the degree they need to.

WR - plenty of talent whether Stills stays for a very reasonable salary or not.

Quite honestly, I don't know what I'd do for the defense in terms of adding new players, though I believe Jones and Suh are the only older vets I would keep due to their mix of talent + salary cap implications. I look fwd to freeing up massive amounts of salary cap with Williams ($8.5 M) Maxwell ($5.5 M) Misi ($4.2M) Mitchell ($4M) Jordan ($3.2M). While I don't know how I'd spend it on the defensive makeover, I KNOW we can spend that $25M more effectively. I'd consider letting Wake go, as well, saving another $4M...but only if I felt like I needed that money specifically in 2017...Wake's a net positive in my mind.

Per OTC, we have $29M projected under the cap for 2017. Add the above $42-46M and we're over $70M available + draft to fill a boatload of holes, especially on defense.

After writing this, I'm glad I'm not in charge...

If I owned them starting today, there would be many things (fire Tannebaum first) but if I had owned them prior to now and since Joe Robbe...then I would fire myself.

That happens when you are afraid to be without a job.
