I disagree, I don't think they inherited a mess. We were a better team last year. Miller is gone, had we used him like he served to be used, we would have put together a better year last year ... this staff let him go.
They are not calling plays that suit the talent, they are calling plays for a system, a system that doesn't suit our personnel.

No doubt. Good post. Do you think Belichick calls the same plays for Brady and Growkowski that he was calling for this 3rd stringer and Gronks replacement? Strengthsort and weaknesses we all have them.
Read my losts all summer and last spring. I loved our first round pick. But the off season showed NO Olineman. I said repeatedly we have NO DEPTH on the Oline. We are 1 injury away from disaster.
I was really surprised when Sneed took over for Pouncy and did well. But its been downhill since. When Tannihill has blocking hes great. You saw that. I just cant understand why the Dolphins do not.
And yes when you have a defense like Cincinnati does why not make him roll out and be a moving target more? I'm thinking Gase was afraid as hell Tanny was going to get hurt. But you cant Coach like that. Thats his strength.....let him roll out instead of collapsing behind this patched up Oline.
And yes, Tannhill still holds on to the ball too long. nothing is developing or he cant see it so he tries to hang on an extra second or two and its not good.

Treasure, by "rolling out" I believe you are saying "moving pocket?" If so, I agree (occasionally, only). However, if not the moving pocket, I saw RT roll out quite a few times and there was ALWAYS someone there waiting for him (esp Cincy). He was not effective, either running or throwing.
Gase is the one with the offensive mind...he needs to figure out how to utilize RT correctly, understanding what he has for an OL and receivers (at this juncture) that are slightly above average. I say slightly above as they have a hard time getting separation.
I have also noticed that passes to the RBs have also failed. They are caught before they can get out of the backfield. I watch other games and I see those RBs out there in the flat by themselves. Miami, not so much.
