Knock on wood if you say he cannot. He probably took a pounding when he played WR. So he is used to it.

He's most durable than most QBs having spent a lot of time as a wide receiver but nothing is forever.

Maybe ajayi develops as a runner and devante parker develops as a receiver.....So we dont have to run tannehill much.......I dont mind it as a wrinkle a couple of times in a game just to keep defenses honest.

But no more than 2 or 3 times a game.

Sam, getting knocked to the ground will eventually lead to injury. Moreover, everyone has just so much tolerance. Do you think Marino or Manning or Favre would have be as calm as Tannehill after taking a pounding each and every week? Marino would be absolutely livid with his o-line for not stopping the carnage on him. Brady would have been crying bloody murder after 2-3 hits.

Tannehill needs the best protection possible to play better than he's playing. Even then it won't be anything like the 4 mentioned above...but it will give us a chance to win more than 8 games each season.

Agreed...

But marino favre and company never played wr in college....

I think this is the reason tannehill is so tough.

He took a pounding sunday against the seahawks that other qbs cant take.

That hit in the endzone, the sack where his head hit the ground.

Many other qbs would be out for the count on those hits.

A Navy Seal wouldn't accept that much punishment...and they are plenty tough and rugged, physically and mentally. Tannehill needs to show some "temper" with the guys who supposedly protect him or he will be, sooner or later, out for the season. O-line has to play much better, IMO.

He also needs to develop a quicker release and get rid of football before he gets sacked....

He locks on a receiver and if receiver is not open the play is over and he gets sacked.

He doesn't lock on to a single receiver as much as he used to, but when the passing options are all covered he seems to get a brain freeze. I think he still has bad habits ingrained from Philbin. He needs to be OK either running it when things break down or throwing it away. Sometimes it's OK to give up on the play. I think that was frowned upon by Philbin.

He needs to do a better job in the 4th quarter to win games.

He is tough yes i dont deny that.

But is yet to get to the level where we are consistently winning games with him.

He attained a 4-point lead late in the 4th quarter.

If anything, he needs to have more drives like that earlier in the game. But against the Seahawks? he did his job in the 4th quarter to win the game. Then the defense lost rolled over and gave up the TD drive the length of the field. Remember?

I think what Sam is saying is that with 31 seconds left and only 50 yards to go to win the game there are plenty of QBs in the league that can come through. What we got was an incompletion, fumble for loss and sack for loss. Not one positive yard. The reason Seattle came with the house and didn't play Prevent is because nobody fears Tannehill. It's a legitimate observation. Gase has his work cut out for him.

That probably is a lot to ask with 30 seconds to go the lengh of the field.

And thats true also. Nobody fears tannehill.

It wasn't the length of the field. It was about 50 yards to get into field goal range.

And there have been times where we had more time to score and still couldnt make it.

And yes it all comes down to nobody fears tannehill...Just throw the house at him and we be fine.

Call me a perfectionist but I can't get over the fact that the idiot kickoff returner was allowed to run the ball into the field of play instead of taking the knee.

I can't get past that to talk about the success of the following drive which the odds were tremendously against in the first place but wasting time off the passing clock to run the ball out of the endzone in a thousand to one shot of even advancing into field goal range shows an idiocy beyond belief.

you might call 2 plays in 6 seconds......If you have timeouts that is.

And yes i disagreed as well of him returning the ball....We should of had 6 seconds more and the ball on the 25 instead of in the 17 yardline.

Yeah, but you can throw the ball out of bounds in one second or you can hit a deep sidelines pass. You need those precious seconds that fool ran off when he ran out of the endzone.

Let's face facts...we are dead last in 3rd down efficiency. If you're in the low 30% class on third down you lose plain and simple.
Offense struggles early in games. Miami only won 1 game last year where they were not leading at the half, and had 4 games with eggs. Even the only tie at the break was a loss. How do you expect to compete when 25% of the time the offense wiffs? Does it look any different today?
Running game is not working, and w/o that this team can't get manageable 3rd downs and give it's defense some rest so they can possibly win a close game.
As others mentioned...nobody fears RT can light it up, so they press the receivers just long enough to set the clock off in RT's head that the play is covered and it's time to scramble.
But on a positive note... most players will stand for the national anthem this week, but odds say the offense "will" take a knee at the half to regroup.
