How Many QBs do we keep on the roster?

If we keep 2 we better get rid of Matt Moore and keep Doughty.

I will have a fit if we cut doughty and keep moore.

We already know that moore is just a backup QB. He hit his ceiling.

We have no idea if doughty can become great but he shows great signs.

What do you think?

I think we'll keep 3 to give Gase a chance to really decide. That being said, I agree with you, although I'd be more in favor of trading Tanny, as he has more value in the market than Moore, and Gase's offense fits Moore's skills better than Tanny's anyway.

Because your blind Sam Sam. GASE saw his value and picked the Miami Dolphins over every other NFL team. Tanny goes to Denver they are instantly playoff contenders again.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

He's young and still has "upside" for the right team. Moore is aging and has no trade value simply as a backup.

Gase also got a HUGE pay check. Not like he is coaching for free for the Dolphins.

Yes, but the recent lifespan of a Phin coach is 2 years. I think Gase wants to stay around longer, and pissing off the owner isn't a good way to start. Ross likes Tanny...which is a HUGE part of the problem.

Iam happy that he played well.....I just have a lot of doubts about him.

Cant wait to see him succeed once to win a game in the 4th quarter.

Just once.

"Just once."

I don't have the stats in front of me, but I am quite sure Tanny has a few 4th qtr wins.

10-4. I know we have alot of defensive 4th quarter melt downs. Our secondary is just beyond terrible. I remember plenty of times when Dan Marino got 40-45 points the defense giving up 46. Its the reason he never got a ring. Then when Jimmy Johnson put together the defense from hell with JT and Zach Thomas, and Madision.....Dan was basically a cripple. Timing is everything in the NFL.

Stop blaming everything on Ryan Tannehill. he's been extremely productive IMO with what he had coaching him, and the horrible draft picks and Oline. Gase will make him a Top 10 QB. I'm positive. This defense , the secondary is our biggest issue right now.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Marino was NOT a cripple when JJ took over. JJ crippled the offense by dumping our OC and replacing him with Kippy Brown who put in an excessively simple offensive system. The purpose was to get a 1000-yard running back...regardless of how bad the RB was (remember Karim Abdul Jabbar?). JJ took over a playoff team that had one of the better offenses in the league, then proceeded to sacrifice offense for defense. In reality, when JJ came in, he wanted to gut the team like he did in Dallas but found that doing that would create a public outcry. So, instead, he slowly sent away Shula's players and made the offense inhospitable to Marino (to hasten his retirement).

I'm not proud of our JJ years. I love the fact that he got Zach and JT, but his 1st round picks/trades were atrocious, and he single-handedly destroyed Marino's career.

Agreed. We've dumped so much money into the defense, and they've just gotten progressively worse every year. Changing the system every couple years hasn't helped, but there's no excuse for pretty-much mortgaging the team for Suh...then having us Suhk!!!

Come on, Treasure..this is the NFL, we'll always need 4th quarter heroics. In this league games are won by an average of 4 points.

Dude. Shula wasn't exactly lighting up the AFC East either anymore. And Marino destroyed his own career when he stepped wrong and ripped that Achilles. Between that and his knees he shouldn't have played after 95'. Jimmy showed him a ton of respect and never even tried to replace him or give him any real competition like he deserved. Instead he tried to win with a beefed up killer instinct defense.

Jimmy only quit because his parents died within 3 months of each other. Life hit him like a subway train. He never coached again and I dont blame him. He left for all the right reasons.

Miami has gotten alot of bad breaks. 1 after the other. Bam bam bam. Sucks. Maybe this years Tunis dropping to us is a sign that the curse is over.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Not lighting it up like he did in the early 70s, but still lighting it brighter than Johnson did:

If I'm recalling (and reading) correctly, Shula won two AFC East titles during his final four years as our coach.

During JJ's four years here, he won zero divisional titles.

Shula's Win-Loss record during his final 4 years was also better than JJ's four years here.

JJ was rebuilding. The whole salary cap thing was a brand new concept that also played a role in building the team through the draft.

I hope his record was better......He had Marino Pre injury.

JJ picked Two HOFers in 2 seasons......Z. Thomas and JT.

Shula had Marino and D. Stephenson in the last 15. Its a silly argument. Shula is the best coach EVER. The Best. I'm just trying to say JJ was not as bad as others here make him out to be. He is a hell of a coach .

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

JJ was a control freak, which is why he burned out so fast. In this way he was the anti-Shula. This is the problem we've had with most of our coaches since Shula. Philbin, Gase, Cameron, Sparano...none of them trusted the QB (except for Pennington). They either called plays themselves or had the OC do it. They didn't give the QB freedom to audible. Contrast that with Shula who gave Marino the playbook in training camp and MADE him call his own plays! I really wish Gase wasn't in the same mold as the rest, but that seems to be the kind of coaches Ross likes.

Quite the contrast, I believe GASE is giving Tannehill the keys to the kingdom. That's what builds the confidence to react on instincts. Which goes hand in hand with the thread I started on Brett Farve.

Hardly. Gase is calling plays. Did Tanny audible at all in the Dallas game?

Didn't catch it, but it would be a move in the right direction, at least. Gase is probably the Phins coach I've been most skeptical about. Philbin impressed me with his preseason bravado. Sparano was really Parcells' underling. Saban had won a championship in college, so he had a pedigree. Before that I was still naive that any coach good enough to be hired MUST be good. Cam Cameron broke me of that for good. Gase has shown me NOTHING so far that tells me he's ready to be a HC.

Philbin was the worst from first day to last.
