My take so far

I'm not particularly impressed with our draft so far. The way I see it, we got LUCKY in the 1st round. Beyond that each of our picks have been reaches. They are either specialists or were drafted too high. The trades we made seemed completely unnecessary.

Perhaps these players will surprise in training camp, but so for I am NOT optimistic about our chances to improve.

I agree this is not a really good draft for us. We reached for guys and drafted guys when better players in position of need were available.

I agree we traded away the 7th pick in the fourth round for a player who probably would have been there for us at our pick at 11. A 4th rnd pick to move up 4 spots. I would think the staff would have learned from seeing Tunsil drop. Have patience. 7 players went in the second rnd that did not have 2nd rnd ratings. That should tell you we have some values in rnd 3. We may have to wait for the 4th rnd (if we had one) for a back. Calhoun DE was there, Fackrell LB, was there. Right now Im just having faith that the new staff really wants these guys and Tunsil is going to be the prize of this draft class.

Its not a bad draft but imo we could be doing better.

After watching the NFL draft for years now and seeing what other teams do, or fail to do, and comparing and contrasting what the Dolphins do and fail to do, I've become numb to what they do and why. There always seem to be a better player out there in the same position that is bypassed. I have to wonder if they use a ouija board. If that's the case, it all makes sense. winking smiley

Selecting two players from the SEC (Ole Miss and 'Bama) isn't a sure bet, but those college teams and coaches seem to train their players a tad better than other conference teams do. So that's a positive. We'll find out just how talented our picks are a a few months.

We gave away draft picks to move around. And it was for players that were not worth it IMO.thumbs down

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Tunsil should be a starter, Howard should be, Hoping Drake could be Jamal Charles like, but his durability is a question. Caroo replaces Matthews

We need to trade for Kevin Hogan or Aaron Murray

I am don't think we got our best value from trader Tanabaum's 2nd days moves. A fourth round pick pretty steep price to move up 4 places in the 2nd round when their were still seemingly similarly rated CB's available. It in itself isn't the worst trade if that was their guy, (it sounds like they were really trying to get Myles jack though). By trading the 4th round pick they had to give up way too much for the 2nd 3 round pick (I really hate this move). They may have been able get all 4 of those player if they took the WR caroo first in the 3rd and picked the rb drake in the 4th (or only used a 3rd day pick to move up.) Now we are missing our 3rd and 4th round pick in 2017. This isn't the way to build a team through the draft that probably still be more than 1 player away. I really hope caroo ends being a good WR because we gave up a lot for him.

Did we really need 2 WR's? I thought that was one of our stronger & deeper positions.

Another zone corner prototype. Exact same size as Maxwell and Howard. 6'0 201

Jordan Lucas, Penn St.

It appears the FO stuck completely to their draft board and went BPA regardless of need and traded up to stick to that board. Let's see if their draft board is worth a crap.

They said they got every one of the players they wanted.

I know one thing for certain. They watched Leonte Carroo's tape and saw Jarvis Landry 2.0. They look like twins. Both run angry. Both have good hands and run block very well.

Landry 5'11 205, 4.77 40
Carroo 6'0 211, 4.50 40

A bigger, faster Jarvis Landry? Hard to pass that up. His speed tells me he can play outside and will compete with Stills for a starters spot. If he wins we will let Stills walk next year.

The Dolphins had Carroo as the 2nd best receiver in the draft! huh? We will see what kind of personnel guy Grier really is, I guess.

I think Ross got confused when he said this. I think he meant to say 2nd round grade.

IMO Carroo stacks up to most of the receivers in this draft. There were no megatrons in this draft, He reminds me of Hines Ward and if it turns out he plays like Ward Grier knows what he is doing. I like Carroo concerns w/ character are my only issues w/ him.

I think we should go sign Matt Slauson. Our line would be so deep and he can play center. He is better than McCelndon.

Slauson would start on our line

He is a career left guard. Do you really think he is beating out Tunsil? Or you're saying he would beat out Bushrod and Urbik at RG?

Huh...all the draft grades I've seen from the pundits, have us from B+ to A-.
Those are some of the best preliminary draft grades we've received in a while.
