So Typical...

There I was, all hyped up for a dominating Dolphins victory over the Skins...and then reality set in. By halftime, I was firing everyone in the organization!
Thank you Washington for losing that game, because we certainly didn't win it.
Thank you Gruden for kicking(missing) that long field goal on 4th and 1, when Morris was gashing our D for about 7 yds a carry, and had all the momentum on your side. It was so Philbin-esque.
As it turns out, we still have the same problems as last year(s).
Tannehill goes from pretty good to disastrous within a given series. Tackling and injuring our own receivers with his inaccurate passes. Still staring down receivers. Poor pocket pressence. Etc,etc,etc...
LBs still cant tackle or cover. The D giving up way too many rushing yds.
Suh should be humiliated by that performance. He looked out of shape and slow.
Time to tone down the expectations a bit it seems.
I expect us to squeek by J-ville, but after that, who knows.

Go phins.

We have weak LBs...

Did you see the play where one of them i forgot the name of who it was got run over by the skins RB.....

We are talking about a LB getting run over like that...not a cb but a LB..

Speaking of typical....fan over reaction to one game....that we won. Half the roster is new and we have something like the 5th youngest team in the league. We will see more progress in week two.

Exactly Joe, they won a tough game on the road and it's just not good enough for some of these guys, by this rational Chuck Pagano and Pete Carroll should be fired and Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson are garbage. Yeah this win wasn't pretty and not what I really wanted, but a win is a win.....and those are tough to do on the road in the NFL, R.E.L.A.X. everyone.

JOe and Holic, I didn't see anyone in the above thread say that we sucked. I saw people making specific criticisms of specific aspects.

Maybe the reality is that it is you guys who are the ones over-reacting by seeing constructive criticism as being damnation instead of some of us being the ones damning instead of constructively criticizing.

Some nuggets from that thread (I'll spare the names so this doesn't turn into a bash fest)

"SOS...can't tackle, can't stop a run, can't pick up short first downs and can't stop the opponents from doing the same...stupid coaching, QB can't hit open receivers...ugh just ugh..."

"Gotta get rid of the cancer....And the cancer is philbin"

"First retarded play by cameron....i mean philbin.... "

"Good news......this keeps up we finally get rid of Philbin."

"It is so depressing to tune in every year and see the same mediocre team over and over again."

"This team is garbage. At some point, you have to cut your losses and be honest. This coaching staff is horrible."

"Also, I'm going to say it......Cousins is VASTLY OUTPLAYING Tannehill. Tannehill has missed wide open receivers."

"The problem starts at the top. Ross has shown no ability whatsoever to identify good coaches. Firing Philbin won't solve anything if Ross is just going to replace him with another Philbin who himself is just another Sporano"

"Another wide open receiver ...MISSED...$96 million worth?"

Hate to see this board when we actually lose or when Tannehill actually has a bad game.........

I was a little upset about the Skins game. A top criticism was the basic defense we ran but thinking about it we still held the Skins to 10 points and shut them out in the second half. Not bad for a vanilla defense. We should be able to handle JAX w/ the same type of defense. A lot of preparation in the NFL is film watching. Coyle is not showing a lot which will serve us well when we get to the tough part of our schedule.

Offense needs more oppurtunities. Defense has to get more 4 and outs and get the O the ball. Manning missed a wide open receiver in the DEN/BAL game so **** happens.

This is a good point which I really, really hope is accurate (only Coyle & company know for sure right now!).

If we can hold the opposition to 10 points with our standard defensive package then we did a VERY good job on D. I don't care if we gave up 500 yards rushing...as long as our D limits an opponent to 10 points, they did their job.

Iam happy we only allowed the redskins 10 points the entire game but the way the game was going it seemed they were up by 21.

However i will take the bend but not break idea here.

We were lucky the Redskins are not very good and were not able to score on our mistakes. Hell they missed a 33 yd field Goal!? But We didn't win that game by a mile. The Redskins lost it. There is a big difference.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I think you are confusing "criticism" with jumping to conclusions about the rest of the year after one game.

Bashing Tannehill for getting a contract after one stinking game....that was a win.

For what it's worth....

The only 1-0 team to lose 2 spots in SB Nation's power rankings.

Not that rankings matter to me, but apparently others besides Dolphins fans take notice of things. Well I didn't see the game because I had to work. Sounds like an ugly win, but I'll take that any day over a loss.

I told you guys a while ago Wake is now in diminishing returns mode...we should have cut bait or traded him while his perceived value was still up there. He's now only an above-average player. told you guys that the LBrs are horrible but the optimistic fan would say, BUT SUH....makes them better! I now can safely say: Yeah , right.

Wow. You can tell all that from one game? That's impressive.

Using that philosophy, I can confidently say that....

Andrew Luck is a bust.
The Jets and Bills are playoff teams
The Rams will win the SuperBowl
Marcus Mariota is the best QB in the NFL

Hello fellows. Know I been out for all these months here. My take on the first game: Pyrrhic victory. Yes, RT started awful. That bazooka pass to Simms was unnecessary. Could have slightly rainbowed it and the result would have been different possibly. Glad that somehow later he sort of fixed the problem. But he is not the only problem there. Miller and Williams. Sure you know the term consistency. Those two I think they don't know what that is. So far we have seen plenty of the Cane. Although it is only the second year for #34 has the same tendencies of the aforementioned. Remember comrades this is not a one man spectacle. Coach Belichick said that some years ago in an interview. He was right. Heard that recently 2 RB's were discarded. If we continue with these two inconsistent performers. Very tough to say, but this team will continue to engage with the same exact results that we have seen all these years. Consistency is what wins games and championships too.
