It's way past time. They should have done this already. Unfortunately there is not much on the market right now.

Shayne Graham, 37 yrs old, kicked 86% in 2014 (19 of 22)

Jay Feely, 39 yrs old, 75% (3 of 4) in 2014, 30 of 36 in 2013

Garret Hartley, 29 yrs old, 3 of 3 in 2015, 22 of 30 the year before.

Derek Dimke, 25 yrs old

(Sturgis was 29 of 37 in 2014 & 26 of 34 in 2013)

That's it.

They are probably waiting for a few to free up.

Dude! I sure hope you're paid to know this.
Kicker FA knowledge, that's just next level geekdom.

There doesn't need to be a veteran FA kicker on the market.

Undrafted rookies are a dime a dozen, and are hungry.

We gave Sturgis a shot as a rookie prospect. There are dozens of rookie prospects out there. Bring two or three to camp and see what happens.

Steelers lost Shaun Suisham and signed Garrett Hartley. (Something we should have done).

I still can't figure the loyalty to Sturgis. More stubborn pride because he was a 5th round draft pick?

Hickey drafted him, Philbin keeps him, Rizzi continues to promote and stand up for him.

Sophomore year at Florida....injured back. medical red shirt.
2013: groin injury
2014: groin injury
2015: Quad injury

The guy is always nicked up. Injured playing kick ball? Really? 5'10 188...

I hope they are right.

I thought so but misread the dates. Any way, that's even worse. They have no reason to be so loyal.

Yes, I liked the idea of only paying a kicker $500,000 instead of 3 million. But this has turned out poorly, you can't have a kicker who gets injured frequently. That is worse case scenario, since you only carry 1...

Don't they have a guy in camp now from RPI? That's Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, not known as a football powerhouse. Doesn't sound like he has competition yet, but I think they are watching the waiver wire.

And it's convenient to have you post this information so that an "ole motherf*cker" like me (See the Logo thread) doesn't have to do the research.
