Good find Joe, I like the part that said Tannehill and Parker started working together right away, pretty pumped to see this new and (hopefully) improved receiving corp.

Now all we need is health throughout the OLine and an improved OGs.


Then everything will take care of itself, and we are suddenly at the next level.

If the room was as messy as it probably was - and Chambers' words are pretty indicting given how lightly he'd likely be prone to tread - I give a lot of credit to Hickey for boldness in approach to the WR overhaul. Not to mention, saving millions in the long run. If we're all in for Tanne, then surrounding him with guys who won't get on the same page with him would be insane.

Pretty crazy to think we completely overhauled the OL last year, save Pouncey, and the receiving corps this year (incl. TE).

I know Tannenbaum is in the mix as well now, but I really like Hickeys approach and demeanor these last two years, can't really complain all that much about anything he's done. Now we just need some of his picks to step up and start performing.

This is not directed about any one in particular but....

Tannehill was 11th in yards this year. 12th in Passing TD's. 9th in attempts. 5th in completions. 13th in rating (majority starters).

Our offense was 11th in points per game.

Our defense cost us about 3 games last year...(and yes our offense struggled at times due to several different issues).

So please don't try and convince me that "wins" are how you measure a QB. To a certain extent that it true, but when a young (and very inexperinced from college) QB is progressing, that's what you look for, IMO. If a veteran QB with 50 starts under his belt cannot carry you for a game or two when you need it then you can call him out but it is and always will be a team sport. The Qb cannot stop the opposing offense from scoring.

Too many people want to talk about how much Tannehill sucks. It's the most absurd thing. He's gotten better every single year AFTER starting game 1 as a rookie when everyone said he would need to sit for a year.

Tannehill deep ball issues will be nonexisstent this year as kenny Stills, Jordan Cameron AND DeVante Parker will all be successful in this aspect.

I predict our offense will be top 5 this year. We will go from 24.2 ppg to somewhere around 28 ppg. There will be no further doubts about Tannehill unless it's just haters and it goes against their original assessment or they are Pats, Jets or Bills fans.

My predictions for this year....

Tannehill will throw for 4,500 yards, 32 TD's and 12 int's. He will rush for a 4 more TD's on our way to an 11-5 record. We will beat the Texans (in Miami) for the first time in franchise history.

Bad play calling/game planning will cost us one or two games. IE..not running the ball enough.

Parker is going to light it up for more than 1k yards.

Lamar Miller and Jay Ajayi will account for more than 2500 yards from scrimmage. We will rush for 135 ypg on average.

Our defense will be top 3 in points allowed and top 8 in yards allowed.

Our division record will be 4-2.

We will win at least one playoff game.

How about some credit to Philbin as well? If big mouths/bad attitudes are sent packing, it was likely thanks to JP. It's his M.O. and Mike Wallace was an Ireland acquisition his last year in Miami when he and JP were not getting along.

Hickey has done a good job as well.

Tannenbaum's baby, and how he should be judged for personnel acquisitions, should be judged this year by how well Jordan Phillips performs. That was his call.

Jordan Tripp earns a starting role.

Chris McCain steps up.

Add that class to James & Landry....fuhget about it.

Could be the equivalent of what McGoughlan did in SF.

I just hope Tannenbaum isn't working Hickey out the door. He just hired of all friggin people.....Terry Bradway as a NE area scout.

Bradway was a much hated former Jets GM.

RESPONSE: The pattern I remember is that we would usually be ahead at halftime and end up losing.

So, it's like the Chicken and the egg. Did we fail to keep scoring and their offense catch up and pass us or did our defense lapse and allowed the same thing? Hard to say.

RESPONSE: I've always said that. The QB gets too much credit and too much blame. But this is the era in which people are wont to say, Tannehill was 8-8 last year. No. The team was 8-8.

RESPONSE: IF the offensive line protects him and/or the playcalling plays to his strengths instead of his weaknesses.

Let's not forget that coaches can improve as well as players. Philbin will learn from some of his mistakes and will be less likely to repeat them. They obviously feel that they have learned that simplifying things on defense might be more beneficial. Also I think that, over the years, Philbin is trying hard to create a culture that he believes will provide the Dolphins with a better chance at success. Sometimes the best way to create that environment is to get rid of those that don't fit and bring aboard those that do. I see Tannehill as one of those pieces, but it is tough for a QB to take a leadership role when most of his receivers are older than him. That is especially true when they exhibit displeasure with the offensive system and the QB that executes it. It may be a stroke of genius to have scrapped and the retooled the receiving core. Now, I would expect,the receivers will see Tannehill differently. With the strong backing of the coaching staff and front office, he will be perceived as leader of the offense. This is especially true since he is in his 2nd year in this offense and should have a firm understanding of it. For these receivers, he will be a seen more so as the expert and they will look to him as someone from whom they can learn. In addition,Greg Jeffries is the consumate pro and, having won a Super Bowl and having earned pro bowl honors, he will be seen as a leader. He has great character, is a hard worker and has a positive attitude that will carry over to our young receivers. Jeffries strong support of Philbin will carry over as well. Considering that these receivers may even be significantly more talented than our prior group and there is good reason to believe our passing game will be much improved this year.

No credit to philbin. What has he done positive here? Where's the brilliant coaching acumen or play call or leadership? Sorry but running vontae Davis out of town bc you can't deal with him earns you no props

Yes, Sam, we can all get along here on this board concerning Philbin, IF......he gets this team over the hump this year.

I'm not putting everything on the players, nor am I putting everything on the coaches, but the buck does stop with Philbin.

He has been mediocre the last few seasons, so if he doesn't get the job done this year (especially with Suh on board).....
