I really don't get this kid. He has no trade value. And if he is cut... he is out $600,000. not likely to find a team with this stunt.

At this stage, I am all for cutting him. Even though he would have seriously been in the mix for playing time.

If he wants to be self defeating, he doesn't deserve a spot on our roster.

Trade him to Dallas for the guy that Collins will replace! They need WR's.

Why trade for him when they can just sign him when he is released?

And I am a big fan of Matthews

Shocker!

You are a fan of the diva WR with issues but not a hard working dedicated QB....

"tardiness, lack of attention to detail and other issues." - Mathews

I would say he is a whiner who wants to take his ball and go home but he has no balls. No balls to compete with the new guys...doesn't want to put the work in,,,just wants to be handed a starting spot after years of screwing up.

If you want to play then earn it. He's afraid of a 5th round pick in Lippett who will primarily play CB? As of now Mathews is our 5th receiver.

or afraid of UFA Christian Jones from Alabama?

I think Matthews is pissed that we signed Jennings and drafted Parker.

I doubt he's allthat concerned about an undrafted WR or a WR who's converting to CB.

Two weeks ago he was the #3 wr on our team headed into a contract year. Now he's 5th and barring injuries.

Last year he was the 5th WR and was 10th on the team with 12 receptions.

Conversely, Hartline was the #3 wr with 39 catches.

He's pissed that his value will be very low going into free agency.

If I could find a trade partner, I'd unload him. I like Hazel enough to make that move.

That was a pipe dream. Did he really think he was going to be our starting outside receiver? LOL. with no competition? Surely he knew Landry wasn't getting moved from the slot. He may have a shot on another WR starved team as a slot receiver but that's about it....if he gets his act together and is willing to do the work and act like a pro.

If he didn't want us to acquire more WR talent, he should have provided it.

As we all know, playing time isn't promised or given, but, instead, it is earned. His ass should quit whining and then go out on the practice field and play so hard and good that the coaches feel they should play them. Unfortunately, this guy has a defeatist's attitude and believes the other players are going to be handed a spot. Perhaps it is his piss poor attitude that keeps him on the bottom of the depth chart. And suppose the Dolphins do cut him, will another team want a player with such behavior? Somehow I doubt it. Afterall, he isn't a team player. A great team player would continually to give his best effort and in doing so, he will either elavate his own status or push his teammates to be their best. It is that kind of competition that makes everybody on the team get better. I've always thought he has performed well when given the opportunity, but if he is going to behave like a little pouty brat, then give his position to somebody with some real desire to be the best.

Hopefully one of the young guys steps up in camp and makes Mathews disposable, I certainly wouldn't do him any favors right now though, for the simple reason that he may not get you much in a trade at this moment but a team could suffer some injuries in training camp and come calling

He's not fast enough to be effective outside and pretty good in the slot. I'd rather have a bigger receiver who is fast and physical enough to play outside. His days are numbered but the FO is going to do it at their leisure, not on his demand.

The talk was the WR room was a mess last year and he likely contributed to that with a bad attitude and poor work ethic.

His competition....

Nigel King, Kansas, 6'3 210, 4.54 40.
Michael Preston 6'5 206
Tyler McDonald, 6'3 190
Matt Hazel 6'1 198
LaRon Byrd, 6'4 200
Christion Jones, 5'11 187

Hazel.

They thought enough of him to promote him from the PS to the 53 for the last 2 or 3 weeks so nobody could poach him.

Not as stocky as Matthews but taller and faster.

Omar Kelly ?@OmarKelly 3m3 minutes ago
Matt Hazel just caught a 30-yard deep ball with Tony Lippett draped all over him. Got the flag too. Hazel has 2 deep ball catches today.

There you go

Hazel is supposed to have good hands and eyes. Just needs to bulk up. Screw Mathews a guy like that should just be grateful to be in the league. Cut him he should already understand that if he was trade-able he would be gone already. Screwball!!

matthews is a great #5 WR, good on ST and making no money. I don't cut him unless Matt Hazel or someone beats him out. He can ride the becnh thru preseason for all I care, I am not cutting him.

Exactly Berk.

No need to cut him until September. If we can trade him, great. If we can't...his injury insurance up until opening day.

That's true no need to rush and cut him giving him what he wants. Keep him here and make him work. I like the player Mathews but he sounds like a creep that doesn't know his value.

Nice slap on the wrist ???????????? what a joke

For a guy that wants out of Miami, he should probably keep quiet right now and not alienate any potential suitors.....showing his intelligence level I'd say
