Kiko Alonso for Shady McCoy.

We better fix that run defense! They now have Shady running behind Richie.

Ehhh...I'm more scared of Alonzo than Mccoy.

So Buffalo has replaced Spiller and Jackson with McCoy....a lateral move for the most part...at the expense of trading one of the best young linebackers in the league...

They'd have been better off keeping Alonzo and drafting a RB or just paying spiller.

I guess they figured CJ Spiller had lost a step... Spiller has a better career yards per carry avg then Mccoy..
The Bills are going to a run and strong defensive team with no QB.. You are right Joe, we need to bolster up that run defense in a hurry...

Spiller and Jackson were inconsistent and oft-injured. McCoy is a special talent. Led the league year before last. Was phased out by Kelley after some friction came up.

If they are smart, they put Richie at RG, sign Matt Moore and they are going to be good with a few more moves. They have lots of cap space.

Alonso is good too but they were already top 5 defense without him.

Yeah! McCoy never gets injured...

Shouldn't McCoy be hitting that RB wall soon?

@SportsCenter Over last 2 seasons, no RB has more carries than LeSean McCoy, who has 626 rushes. DeMarco Murray is 2nd with 609

I think the Bills got taken myself, it's his 7th year, very close to the end of a RB's shelf life.

I agree Mccoy has been taking a lot of hits and is going into his 7th year...Not exactly a young buck with no wear and tear on him...

I also find the timing interesting... Why now, a week before FA begins? Both men were under contract... And it broke just as CJ Spiller was about go live and sit with NFL total access crew for the hour.. Spiller found out 5 minutes before they went live...

Were the Bills or Philly trying to drive other happenings in FA by announcing it this early? Most of our first thoughts around here were, we better do something in FA to help out our run support, following this announcement. Why would they give us and other AFC teams time to try and do that.. Unless they wanted us to.. They could have announced the deal an hour before FA opened, leaving us and others scrambling to respond... Just curious about the timing and why now was the time to do it for the parties involved.... The art of war always comes into play on decisions like this IMO...

3000 carries is usually the point where they regress. He's 26 years old with 1461 carries. Marshawn is two years older, Murray one year older and just led the league. It's not like he has been getting killed with 400 attempts like Ricky and AP. Just keep telling yourself he won't be an upgrade or an issue. LOL

Now...Buffalo may kill him with 400 attempts but...he's got 5 years left before he hits 3k carries IF they run him 300 times a year.

Fred Jackson is 34.

typical rex move going after a big name has been at the expense of his defense.

they better resign jerry hughes.

rex is an offensive boob.

it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they sign mark sanchez.

they probably sign David Harris to replace Kiko. They have plenty of cap space.

Still a bad move.

They could have signed demarco Murray for what they are paying McCoy and kept alonzo.

"Bad move" is stretching it a bit.

They get Alonso for cheap but he is coming off torn ACL. He had a good year as a rookie playing behind one of the best front 4's in the league. Excelled in coverage, average vs the run and rushing the passer.

Murray ran behind the best line in the league.

Philly struggled last year with injuries on the line and McCoy still rushed for over 1300.

McCoy cap hits...

2015 10.2
2016 7.1
2017 7.8

Only 1 mil in guaranteed money.

They didn't trade for him to cut him, so the guaranteed money isn't really relevant.

It's still bad asset management.

They could have gotten a comparable back in Murray for similar money and kept a young, impact lb.

It's a bad move.

"Could have" has no place here. You don't know that Murray would even go to Buffalo. It's already being reported McCoy is pissed that he was traded to Buffalo. Can't say I blame him.

It also depends if you believe Murray is comparable and what kind of deal he gets.

It also depends on what they get out of Alonso. No way of telling that either. You can't ignore the injury he is rehabbing from....he wouldn't be the first player to look promising and then not live up after an injury. Chances are he will be fine but it's impossible to judge as fact at this point.

Like I said, he had one year behind some great DT's in a 4-3. Now he goes to a 3-4. (Doesn't matter if he played in it in college). He goes from the 4th ranked defense to the 28th ranked defense. He won't have K.Williams and M.Dareus protecting him now.

There are many opinions out there but no one will know until years down the line who got the better deal.

Guaranteed money always counts because it's a cap killer, also no signing bonus to extend out over length of deal. If a player get's injured, cut or retires that guaranteed money still counts.

It's a fair point. It's not a given that buffalo could lure a top flight fa there, but then again, they did get Mario Williams a few years ago.

All very good RB's are comparable. The differences between the guys at the top of that list are minimal.

It's a devalued position.

The last time a team won a super bowl with the leagues top ranked running game was 30 years ago.

Chances are he'll be fine. Chances also are that buffalo wouldn't be stupid enough to build a trade around him if he couldn't pass the physical.

It's still a bad deal. They traded a valuable commodity for one the could have gotten by writing a check or drafting a guy.

ESPN is reporting that we may have interest w/ Spiller. Why he does not add anything to what Miller is giving us?

That could be Spillers people trying to drum up interest, or it could be the Dolphins trying to push up his asking price in case the Jets are interested, remember, it's the lying season.

Since Chip is collecting Ducks in Buffalo, we should open up the Dion Jordan discussion again. Player for player trade....or draft pick. 2nd rounder for Jordan and a conditional pick?

They already lost one OLB and the other is a FA. Graham and Cole

I would say Fletcher Cox but he is a hot commodity and only has one year remaining on contract. Their best player too.

Malcomb Jenkins has turned his career around at safety.

Evan Mathis would be a nice starting LG but is 33 and at end of career.

Jason Peters is a top LT but we have one and he is also 33.

I'd take Lane Johnson in an even swap.
