This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
What kind of idiot announcers are these? I thought it was stupid not to punt then. You have a thin 4 point lead and instead of backing the other team up inside their 20 yard line you risk it on a 4th down play and give them the ball at midfield?
The "fat lady" is on stage and is now singing. It's over folks. Some of you may be pleased with this loss because we may get an earlier pick in the draft, but it shows me there's a lot missing with team play. The defense has it's moments and then falls apart with total failure more often than not.
Back to the drawing board, once again, with off-season talk, and positions on what we need most. We need to start with heart. Then replace Sturgis, then Finnegan, then Colledge.
Another debacle seson for the dolphins failure to make the playoffs or take a step forward. Stephen Ross a COMPLETE coaching overhaul is needed with the exception of maybe Lazor , but even his play calling was questionable at times
Another Ho Hum season over with a "thud" at 8 - 8 and, third in our division. Lost 3 of the last four.
Anybody know the scoop on why Wallace was benched and refused to answer questions at the post game?
I would be hard pressed to argue the Dolphins (players or staff) did anything extraordinary to lose the game. My sense is they tried hard, with purpose--to win. But, as things have gone, what was done just fell way short. Sure there were moments when I cheered--the big 97 yard Miller run and a tough catch by Hartline, but overall, things just weren't good enough--plain and simple. As usual there were missed opportunities on offense and well...the defense was real spotty. The secondary was downright lousy. Depending on what happens to other teams...were the Dolphins place in the next draft is momentarily unresolved. I suspect at 8-8 we will be earlier than if at 9-7. We'll learn soon I'll bet.
What happens on draft day is anyone's guess right now.
Well guys it isn't a secret that we had injuries and that hurt us alot but it also isn't a secret that we needed help in the following areas.
1. DT: we don't have anyone on the team that can get push up the middle consistently...this really hurts our defense and allows opposing QB's too much time to survey the field and throw.
2. CB: We need a bigger guy or too so our small guys don't get beaten up by bigger taller receivers.
3. LB: do we even have any? No, seriously, we need to upgrade at least three of the guys we have.
4. DE: as good as Wake and Vernon are they simply to easy to remove from the game because of our weak DT's and LB'ers.
Then we have the offense.
WR: Wallace quit on the team (reportedly), Hartline was MIA for 95% of the season, Gibson was hurt alot, and mostly inneffective when he was playing, Clay was MIA for 80% of the season, Simms was MIA most of the year too, we didn't get a great deal of help in the passing game from our RB's...etc, etc.
Our D, which most of us thought was the strength of the team...completely fell apart at the mid point and our offense was not consistent enough and didn't produce enough plays (big or otherwise) to pull out close wins.
We did improve in areas this season and that is reason enough for hope that the future will be better...but the D has got to be fixed , we need to add to the lines, and we need more playmakers.
