The best option for the Dolphins?

To simply lose out. The players and coaches wouldn't purposely lose, but it would be the best option in the long run.

Seen today where if Phins lose out, they will gain upwards of 11 spots in the draft.

I promise you, those 11 spots are needed.

upwards of 11 spots? How is that possible? We are around 15 right now. We are going to jump to the top 4 at 7-9?

Even if the 8 teams above us (with 5 wins) all won both of the next 2 games (not possible), we could only get to 7. Again, that's not possible because several of those teams play each other.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2-12 (.479 SOS)
2. Tennessee Titans: 2-12 (.491 SOS)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-12 (.509 SOS)
4. Oakland Raiders: 2-12 (.585 SOS)
5. Washington: 3-11 (.495 SOS)
6. New York Jets: 3-11 (.550 SOS)
7. Atlanta Falcons: 5-9 (.480 SOS)
8. New York Giants: 5-9 (.511 SOS)
9. New Orleans Saints: 5-8 (.482 SOS)
10. Chicago Bears: 5-8 (.518 SOS)
11. Minnesota Vikings: 6-8 (.480 SOS)
12. St. Louis Rams: 6-8 (.536 SOS)
13. Houston Texans: 7-7 (.441 SOS)
14. Cleveland Browns: 7-7 (.461 SOS)
15. Miami Dolphins: 7-7 (.516 SOS)
16. San Francisco 49ers: 7-7 (.541 SOS)
17. Kansas City Chiefs: 8-6 (.516 SOS)
18. San Diego Chargers: 8-6 (.518 SOS)
19. Cleveland Browns (via Buffalo Bills): 8-6 (.520 SOS)
20. Dallas Cowboys: 9-4 (.450 SOS)

Like every other year by this time in the season -- winning is NOW meaningless. I hope we lose out -- to guarantee Phlimflam is gone and for whatever draft capital it brings.

I meant 11 spots difference between winning the last 2 and losing the last 2.

Best Option for the Dolphins to lose out.

You're right, A & O.

But like ole Blue Eyes said, "I thought of quitting but my heart won't buy it."

I don't blame you guys for doing so though. It's the smart move.

Even 5 draft positions can make a difference.

But there I will be for the next two Sundays rooting for us to win....

.....and (where possible) rooting for the Filthy Rodents to lose.

Lots of teams long before this point in the season were playing for "pride" as they neared the end of the season. With some teams seeing the losing season early with many losses, winning a few games really meant nothing but losing position in the next draft.

Chicago, who I've seen all to often this season on TV sure looks like a team that gave up on itself. It appears their season and hopes to make the playoffs ended when the Dolphins beat them.

Its a tough time of the year for hundreds of players and dozens of coaches who aren't going to make the playoffs. One has to wonder, what things have to change in order to become one of the teams that gets there? Could it be one of two better players, a different coach or coaching assistant? Better coaching? Fewer turnovers? More takeaways? The possibilities are endless.

Yeah, Colonel, but being 2-12 and being 7-7 is a lot different.

In the former, you need the best draft order you can get, in the latter, however, you still have a shot no matter how remote.

Thats a good idea. Better jet why dont we just play against high school teams that way we can make playoffs every year.
