Coyle's gonna have some 'splainin to do.

It looked like Coyle had no idea how to contain Denver's O today.

I get it that they have Manning and Thomas, but seriously.
They got absolutely run over.

Couldn't he get a hold of the Super Bowl tape? He had no access to the film of New England's, or the Rams' games against Denver??

That was a pretty ugly game plan on any level.
Might want to work on tackling a little bit as well.

It's also painfully obvious that our LBs are in serious need of upgrading. They couldn't stop a pack of girl scouts from selling cookies.

You know Brady and Billicheat are licking their chops.
Better get it figured out quick!

The tackling was horrible yesterday, and it's been very good all year otherwise. The pressure was non-existent, as well.

These types of things are what show up when you're sucking wind at mile high. I was born in Denver but grew up in Kansas, and any time we'd go back to CO it took several days to acclimate to the altitude. If I'd go for a run within the first day or so upon arriving, I'd be winded in no time.

There were certainly those plays where WR are wide open because Manning is who he is and he demands that his WR do the little things exceptionally well (head fakes, etc). But, the tackling, run defense and QB pressure were WAY off.

Yeah, the run tackling was actually worse than the pass coverage.

Another thing is that we were taught that when you are in the defensive backfield and a guy has broken loose from the backfield, you stand still and make him commit. You don't commit first. Easiest way in the world to get faked out.

These guys have forgotten their midget, Jr. High, High School and college training.

Piss Poor. Nothing to explain. Ross and Hickey need to find qualified people to steer the ship. Its really that simple.

The prevent defense doesn't work. I wholly agree that the defensive scheme was terrible. Whether it was oxygen deprivation or not, our LB play pretty much failed. Misi was reinjured, I believe and that didn't help anything. Substitutions didn't do much. However, I did think FOX filled in well at LT.

We all have to wonder about Coyle that's for sure. eye rolling smiley

Only thing I can think of is we didn't want to show them our true cards in case we meet in the playoffs. If that's not the case though, I'd vote for replacing every single coach on the defensive side. Tackling was atrocious, play calling completely idiotic, what the bleep were they doing?

Until yesterday the D was considered top 5. At least one article I read had us as the best D in the NFL. Yeah, let's get rid of the co-ordinator. I'm sure we'll do better with the next one.

It looked to me like we went conservative after jumping out to the big lead early. That's on Philbin, not Coyle.

Coyle has always sucked. Come on Hooligan. Can you imagine Rex Ryan with our players? Lol would be no contest number 1 defense. There is how many pro bowl players on our defense 6? The only reason why our defense has been playing well is because of the players overcoming inept coaching. Yesterday you saw inept coaching prevail over talent.

Did you guys really think our defense was going to stand a chance against Manning after Taylor went down?

We played the whole 2nd half with grimes, and our 5th, 6th and 7th cb's against a hof qb in his building, at altitude.

Even if we hadn't sucked stopping the run we weren't stopping Manning in the 2nd half.

Grimes for sure, Wake probably/maybe?, don't see the rest making it, especially Delmas or Finnegan, not sure Jones makes it missing the first 4 to suspension.

I don't know what to say. I thought the defense would be the last of our worries....and it usually is.

Don't ignore the impact of losing three CB's opposite Grimes. When you're down to Lowell Rose and Walt Aikens, you are in deep shit. I didn't even know Rose was on our team and I am a roster geek.

Will Davis, Jamar Taylor, Cortland Finnegan...all gone.

I once thought DT was the strength of the defense but they got man handled in the run game yesterday. Randy Starks is slowly disappearing. Age may be catching up with him. I was skeptical about the switch from a space eater to a penetrating type of DT and it seems problematic more than ever. We don't really have a dynamic DT any more. None of them were good against a poor o-line yesterday.

I was not thrilled with the defensive game plan but we were handcuffed without top corners. No big plays from anyone on defense yesterday. No Jones, Delmas, Grimes, Wake or Vernon.

That being said, I would rather see the defense struggle than the offense because they are more apt to cure the problem. Too bad Taylor got hurt because he was improving and showing some skills. Looks like he had a dislocated shoulder.

We all pretty much knew we were not going to win out. We did show that our offense can score and move the ball on anyone. That was our biggest question all season but they seem to be gaining some steam and consistency. All is not lost.

Patchwork o-line held up. Patchwork DB's did not.

Sorry but I cannot put all the blame on the coaches. Players still have to execute and they did not execute on defense.

I'm just thrilled to see Tannehill build on his game and give us some stability going forward. Another 100+ QB rating (104.9). His confidence is at an all time high. To go on the road in Denver to face a top defense and Peyton Manning is a huge task and we were able to score 36 points. The defense will bounce back.

There are positives to take from this as we get into the home stretch.

Joe we had the two worst injuries we could have, other than qb, and they KILLED us in the 2nd half.

Losing Taylor meant we had to cover Welker and Sanders with rookies and guys off the street. That changed the entire way we played defense.

Losing James destroyed our running game which blew up our offense until Denver went prevent on that last drive.

We win that game those guys play the whole game.

I know for a fact that Starks, Finnegan, Delmas, Grimes and Wake were selected to a probowl at least once in their careers while Jones has been playing at Pro-bowl talent level and will eventualy make it.

Well if we can not win the big ones on the road then we will just repeat of we make playoffs. Done with excuses. Playoff teams find ways to win. Period pint blank.

I know. I acknowledged that as a preface to my statement.

I agree. Like I said, there was good to take from this.

The only real negative I saw was DT play and very poor tackling.

Gotcha, I thought you meant pro-bowl this year.

If you know your DB's are really weak don't you blitz the crap out of the QB?

I would, make him throw it quick so the DB's don't have to cover as long.

The DL just seemed to stand there and waiting for the linemen to engage them instead of attacking. Was really bizarre. Their RB would get hit and somehow fall forward for 2-3 yards.

Was watching the Bengals game and they had a LB blowing people up. We need a LB like that!

We should had blitzed the house....At least we would had gone down fighting.

Instead we layed a slow death till the end of the game.

Not if you're facing an elite QB. This is what the Bears did against Marino during their Superbowl season and he made them pay. Blitzing Manning is a really scary strategy that rarely works.

I highly doubt Coyle is the first DC to come in with a game plan to stop Peyton and he spoils the plan.

LOL...talk about the exact opposite. You don't blitz UNLESS you have good corners because you are leaving them one on one.

No doubt. The fact that we fought hard against a hall of famer is indication that we are on the right track.

Except kansas city and buffalo we've been in every game this year.

Of course not. But if it's not working wouldn't you want to change it up? Why keep smacking that square block in a round hole?

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I don't like it either Treasure, but the "fire so and so coach" after every bad game is getting old. Coyle has a top 5 defense in the NFL, he's only faced Rodgers, Stafford, Rivers, Brady and Manning this year, granted, 3 of those games we let slip through our fingers, but if he was really as bad a DC as some make him out to be, the games wouldn't of gone down to the wire. I'm more worried about the run D from yesterday then not being able to blitz when we had our 5th and 6th CB's covering some of the best WR's in the game.

We really need to concentrate on drafting a DT next year and a couple of LBs really high in the draft.
