I felt the same way about us NOT taking him as you Jonathan and for the same exact reason that we did not need any more drama. But if bullygate HADN'T HAPPENED.....

Sam will show on the field that he is not a sissy in the sense that Jonathan Martin was going crying to his momma and Jonathan is straight.

Lastly, Crowder. Yes, the media went all out on this story. They covered all the post draft actions by Sam and his friends but you know what???????

Like Truth pointed out the same kissing between Sam and his Boyfriend when the name was called went on between every OTHER draft pick AND HIS GIRLFRIEND or his mother. Sam, like the other picks, THEN went on to hug his FRIENDS in the room.

The only difference is that with Sam, they went on to cover the AFTER DRAFT PARTY although the other picks certainly had after draft parties of their own.

But what do you expect??????? WHEN DOG BITES MAN, IT IS NOT NEWS BUT WHEN MAN BITES DOG, then that makes headlines.

What do you want? What do you expect?

Right on Chyrene. Try being a Cop. If you Jaywalk it will be on CNN the next day..........there really should be some sort of a policing agent for the media. They really have almost no constraints when it comes to reporting . They should have a probable cause statute before they report anything and held liable if incorrect.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I agree the media is a huge factor in the destruction of America. The rest is rich people making dumb laws and the saps that we are to continue to allow it.

I agree, but how do we shut down Fox "News" without violating their first amendment right to free speech?

Well I think the question is....... Are the news agencies considered to be a entity that is entitled to rights like citizens such as free speech?

It's a complicated subject for sure. But the Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue in its "Citizens United" ruling. They decided that "corporations are people too" and that money = free speech.

Odd that you think there are two different entities. They are one and the same. (1%ers)

The Supreme Court have taken their title (SUPREME) too literally. They act like Gods up on a hill. Personally, I'd be happier to see Diana Ross as the Chief Justice over what we have now.

From the standpoint of the media, absolutely true but their job is to sell newspapers. LOL. It's funny that you guys can't separate the two issues.

It's like you're saying that he must be no good because this is only for the purpose of creating a media storm and obviously he can't be any good because he is gay.

FOR GODSAKES THE GUY WAS NAMED THE OVERALL MVP (OFFENSE AND DEFENSE) OF THE SEC (OVER CLOWNEY) BEFORE HE CAME OUT!

GET A GRIP!

The media didn't put Sam up to that, somebody else did and the media ran with it... HE was a "pawn in their game" on many levels...

I'm not much of a draftnik Chyren, but by all accounts i've read, this guy Sam IS NOT that high of a draft prospect nor was he ever. I don't think him coming out hurt or helped his draft position.

Chyren I don't think Micheal SAMs sexual preference has any impact on his play on the field, period.. Never said otherwise nor insinuated it... His actions on draft day is all I am talking about... Nothing to do with his football skill... If anything I believe his coming out and the media that would follow him and his story probably dropped him a bit... Because distractions are not a positive when evaluating draftees... Whatever the distraction is, is irrelevant... But dustractions don't boost u up boards... I think he was a 5th to 7th rd pick based on his play... Just because you are built to play college doesn't mean you are built to play pro on the same level...

The kid has ZERO chance in the NFL IMO.

He simply doesn't have the athletic chops to compete.

The pick was great PR -- which the NFL is brilliant at.

Beyond that -- essentially irrelevant.

My opinion. Of course.

Clowney had 42 total tackles and 3 sacks this year.

Sam had around the same number of tackles and 11.5 sacks.

Truth- Micheal Sam was the 169 rated player and the 15th rated DE... Clowney was #1 rated player and #1 rated DE.... Are you trying to compare the 2 based on their play and intangibles? Sam was also a 4 year player, he really didn't come on till last year... He didn't dominate as freshman as Clowney did... He played well as a senior.... Going into the draft, Sam was said to be a one trick pony who doesn't have the multiple moves and skill set to be a dominate NFL player... Clowney is an athletic freak...

Based on Sams ranking he would go in the middle of the 5th rd, add the distraction concern he went a little later... How is that a surprise? A 5th rd rated player is far from a sure thing....

Is not or was not, that is the question. I find it hard in light of his MVP and ALL SEC status, above Clowney and Manziel, to think "was not ever." But maybe you are right.

What I'd like to do is to see the PRE 2013 SEASON, draft prospect assessments.

Will try to look them up and see what the assessments were UNTAINTED by the "coming out."

I was pointing out why Sam won the SEC defensive POY over Clowney. There were probably 5 other guys in the SEC (at least) who would have deserved the award over Clowney. While Clowney is CLEARLY the better talent, its no shock that Sam or anyone else beat Clowney out. Clowney took the year off and Sam didn't.

Prior to the 2013 season, the guy had 7 sacks in 3 years... That is the untainted assessment of him... He was UDFA prior to his play in 2013... So I doubt you are going to find this proof your are looking for prior to 2013....

He won't be in the league after three years. He looks too soft physically and too small to play DE. He is too slow for Lb. JMHO

Timmy chang was the NCAA all time leading passer when he graduated and wasn't drafted. But bc Sam was co defensive sec player of the year he should have been a high draft pick? There is way more to being a pro prospect than just college stats and Sam was viewed as a late rounder at best before making news by announcing he is gay
Again Jackson jeffcoat was conference defensive player of year this year at Texas and wasn't drafted and no one is claiming anything unusual there

Are you seriously contending that had he not come out AND that there had been no hint that he was gay and in fact, let's go all the way and let's say he wasn't Gay, are you seriously saying that he would NOT have gone in the first three rounds, berk?

Seriously?

If so, then there must have been some pre draft predictions in 2013 before he came out. If you know of some, let me know.

A lot of people on this board have flapped their gums about all these football defects they NOW see in him and are saying were seen all along but just show me the money,,,,,errr show me the newspaper articles written BEFORE this all came out.

Because you know.......one part of the attack now launched on his gayness is that "he really wasn't that good anyway."

Nonsense!
