All right, Rams

Picked Michael Sam.

Now, as I suspect, Michael Sam will play great making it easier for the next guy.

Also He's a defensive end, the aggressive position.

Pretty soon this will not be an issue anymore than shortly after Jackie Robinson was signed by the Dodgers made it for Blacks in baseball.

Purely a politically motivated pick, it is well known that since not much is generally known about late picks, you pick by the numbers. Sams has none, and is a marginal player, so why pick him otherwise? "Now, as I suspect, Michael Sam will play great making it easier for the next guy." What have you seen that makes you think this? I saw nothing in his tapes to make me think he will "play great". The big difference between Jackie Robinson and this guy is that Jackie Robinson was very talented and deserved his place in the league. And ChyrenB, you persist in comparing apples to oranges and maintaining that it is a meaningful.

I am happy for the guy but the whole draft video seemed very staged and over the top....He is definitely looking for money from being a gay NFL player.... Roll Camera, He cries uncontrollably as his boyfriend holds his hand and embraces him, then he only stops crying uncontrollably to look up into his boyfriends eye and kiss him on the lips, cut, lets shoot it again... No wait cut cake smear it on your boyfriends face and mouth then french kiss him and share the cake that is in his mouth....cut next shot...

But he says he doesn't want to be defined by being gay.... Seems all very contrived, probably scored him several high paid interviews with nationals and multiple endorsement deals..... He is going to be a media circus...

I am just glad that the Dolphins didn't pick him. That isn't because he is gay. It is because I wouldn't want the media circus that would come with him. We have had enough of that lately. Give me information that pertains to football and only football. I don't think we would be able to read anything about the other players. Not to mention the fact that he kind of sucks as a player.

This thing has gotten way out of bounds. Almost to the point of eliminating the Johnny Football mania. Particularly ESPN. Children and many others had no reason to watch this disgusting charade. I changed the channel immediately. Could not stand it even for a second. Perhaps he might make it to the final players roster. But I'm certain down the line someone gonna pull a Saints bounty version stunt on the knee or ankle department. Would not be surprised. Remember fellows. This is a full authentic man sport. No room for sissies. Sorry, but that is the way I see it.

ESPN and the Carefree Club. Authentic and only definition of that 3 letter word in the English language. There was a term tampering manipulation in the 60's. At the risk of getting banned here. But anyway is good to put things the way they are as undisputed facts. Gentlemen since main steam media never informs this go to this website:

www.johnkaminski.info

Scroll down to an article that has Plague in the title. You'll find the facts there and who is really behind promoting this sickness. Yes this has nothing to do with the sport of course. But fellows is time to wake up to what is truly going on in the USA behind the curtains.

I don't think you understand what 1st amendment free speech means. You have the right to your opinions and to voice them peacefully without fear of being prosecuted for them by the state or the federal gov't.

Your employer, however, is not the state or federal gov't. They have every right to discipline or even fire you if the views you express publicly impact their ability to be profitable.

Truth, you told me when Sam made his announcement, he did it to get it behind him and ahead of the story... You said now he can say I addressed it and I am a football player, and am not going to address it anymore moving forward....

Not because he wanted attention or endorsements, etc about it... After seeing what happened on draft day do you still hold that position? Because with all of that over the top nonsense he put on camera yesterday, it was the circus is coming to town, and he plans to milk it for every penny he can... After all the first drama sobbing and kissing.... Did any other player smash a cake in his lovers mouth and then french kiss sharing the cake between them, because i must have missed it...

What a steaming pile of bullshit. The ignorance you display in posting that shit is staggering in its enormity.

You, that "author", and the nonsense he propagates are an embarrassment to this site, the fans of this team, this country and humanity in general.

I didn't watch it. I really couldn't care less.

He's another kid who got drafted and celebrated with his family. Did he try to make a political point about gay rights by going overboard?? Sounds like from your description.

So what... He's the first openly gay player to get drafted into a pro sport. Its a big moment for people like him who have been oppressed or forced to live their lives in secret. Its not a big deal.

He made his announcement 3 months ago. Since then he's done nothing to promote gay rights as an activist. He did nothing to use his sexuality or notoriety to line his pockets. He just prepared for the draft. I was right. he did it to get it out of the way.

I think you misunderstood what I was getting at. I was debating with you whether or not he came out in order to create celebrity and to cash in on it. I said I didn't think he did, and so far, that's proven to be the case. If you have an issue with how his family celebrated his big day then that's on you. Did you think I meant he was going to stop being gay, or that he wasn't going to live his life?

I think it is sad, I could care less what you do in the bedroom or who you love or don't love... But what I saw from yesterday was in bad taste... He wants to be defined by his sexuality and I think that is sad and feel bad for him.. Being defined by your sexuality is very shallow, and anyone that would do that on purpose shows a real lack of who they really are...Kind of like a porn star.
I would have thought it was in bad taste whether it was a male and female or 2 males or 2 females.... People are ridiculous...

I didn't see the coverage so I'm not going to comment other than to say that if you are upset because he kissed a guy and did it with a piece of cake then you are the one who is defining him by his sexuality.

Nobody would give two shits if Johnny Manziel had done that with his girlfriend.

You knew ESPN was going to cover it to death because it was a big story 3 months ago and because when you are broadcasting for 20 hours over 3 days you are going to use whatever you have to keep eyes on the set on day 3.

watch the coverage, no other athlete was covered like that or in that way.. I have no problem a simple hug and kiss of congratulations. After that we saw, them go back to them where a cake was set up and Sam cut a piece and then shoved in his lovers mouth and face ala a wedding ceremony.. Then sharing the cake between their mouths. What we saw was a publicity stunt set up by the gay mafia and shoved down our throats... It was intentional.. It wasn't just one shot it was a story line that the gay mafia wanted told, so it was... He said it is and he is all about football but his actions are completely contrary to that... They set up shots and actions for over the top imagery... It was not just natural it was staged, you could tell.. I was around production enough to know that much... I am just glad my sons didn't see it... That is not the type of imagery I want my 5 year old who is into football to see when watching sports... 2 guys sharing cake in their mouths together..

I bet it was set up. But that's ESPN...isn't it?

Even so, if it were AJ McCarron and Kartherine Webb sharing a piece of cake that way, nobody would care.

I'm not going to watch it. My least favorite part of the draft is the time they waste interviewing players, especially after the first round. I usually flip the channel when they go to the family shot in the kids living room.

I want to hear about football, not see a kid crying or talking on the phone, or kissing his boyfriend.

This is my first thought as well....of course my opinion is coming from someone who never watches draft coverage...I may listen to it on the car radio while driving around, but I generally don't care to sit in front of the TV to watch it.

The guy apparently is celebrating with his own loved ones..fine. That's what every draftee does, so he should be able to do it too.

It sounds like ESPN is making the biggest deal out of it. They're the ones choosing to film the kissing and cake feeding (which sounds like a wedding reception to me). Then broadcasting it (and I imagine, repeating it 10,000 times).

Again I haven't seen this particular incident (and don't care to), so I'm not as qualified to comment as you draftniks who watched it.

I think Sam is a nice kid, I actual feel bad for him in that many people will and probably already have tried to use him for their agendas, which is what I believe happened yesterday... He still could have said no, I am not going to do that on film, as far as the cheesy cake thing... But he certainly has every right to do so... It just seems that his actions go heavily against his words... Which makes me question what the real story is and who is pulling his strings... I would guess some powerful people in certain places offered him a lot of money and or promise of endorsements to do what he did yesterday... He is a tool of others, it was plain as day from what I saw yesterday as compared to when he initially came out and what he said in that press conference... What he did yesterday only intensified the media circus that is going to surround him and the Rams... That is not what he should want based on his words, but he surely just created and or invited that train to pull up...
