Manning is the All-Time GOAT...The BILLY GOAT...

I will say, he is the greatest regular season QB in NFL history. His stats and accomplishments reflect that.

BUT..

His playoff resume is below average. In Championship and SB games he has thrown for 10 TD's & 10 INT's.

Is that top 5 numbers all time? No.

Listen, Peyton Manning is somewhere between 6 and 12 all time. Thats an amazing achievement, but at some point.. playoff and Super Bowl play has to come into effect.

He has consistently played lousy in big games. Consistently.

I was glad to see the little troll Welker shut down and walk away empty handed.......again. Elway didn't look too happy either. Good. I tell you what.....against that swarming defense Tebow would have been more successful running the ball the Peyton running for his life.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Yes he does come up short in the post season, but not always.

He won the big prize once, at least.

That's more than we can say for any accomplishment our team has made since Bob Griese was at the helm.

And for my money Dan Marino was the best regular season quarterback ever.

TEAMS win championships....NOT players. Manning is a great QB. This is what happens when you rely too much on one player. Sound familiar? #13

He threw 4 Td's and & 7 INT's the playoffs the year he won the SB, to include 1-1 in the SB.

Thats not great numbers. Matter of fact, thats bad numbers.

And the year the COLTS won the SB, his defense stepped up big time in the playoffs. They held the Chiefs to 8 points in the first round and then the Ravens to 6 points.

Manning was 25 of 38 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown in the SB win.

The Colts' running game gashed the Bears for 191 yards on 42 carries. Rhodes had 113 yards and 21 hard carries.

Like I said, teams win championships.

i'm with eesti on this.

qbs get way too much credit and way too much blame.

seattle shut that entire offense down...not just manning. holding the wrs at the line of every play throws the timing off and manning is all about anticipation and timing.

seattle was head and shoulders better than denver. that d was firing on all cylinders last night.

even when denver put together a drive it took 10 plays to go 45 yeards.

I have a problem in fully understanding your heading....a goat? How do you arrive at that?

I will give you that his playoff record isn't the greatest, but with his regular season prowess, that can be forgiven, as we all know, football is not a one-man game; if it was, Marino would have won at least 10 Super Bowls.

Are you saying Manning is a goat because of his loss in this past Super Bowl? If you watched the game, you would have probably noticed that he played his normal game, just this time he had a damn good Seattle defense in his face most of the game. His line couldn't keep these guys out; his receivers couldn't get much separation from the DBs; no running game; and Denver's defense didn't play all that well, either.

Seattle is the reason Peyton and the Broncos lost this game. They proved that they are the number one defense in the league.

Now, as far as All Time....I say it now as I have always said it...there is no "best" at any position. The best are mentioned as a group and always compared to each other. Peyton is a great QB, but in his time, so was Johnny U.

This game is not solely on Peyton; it was a team effort!

Two service guys disagreeing.

We all thought Peyton was through after that neck injury.

So did Indy and that's why they were so eager to "SUCK FOR LUCK" which I really believe they did.

However, age may be catching up with him.

An earlier Peyton would not have made the mistakes he made. Whether he made them from age, which I suspect, or mental lapses, I don't know. But he couldn't do it all by himself and the receivers didn't do him any favors GIVEN THAT THEY COULDN'T SEEM TO PUT AN INCH BETWEEN THEM AND THE SEATTLE SECONDARY.

All you guys are yelling about how defenses win championships.

To me it's more like "defensive SECONDARIES win championships."

Peyton was under constant pressure from the D-line all game. His 2 INTs were a direct result of him being hit when he threw the ball. The second one his arm was hit as he was releasing the ball.

The stats line only shows 1 sack, but he was constantly hurried and hit as he threw the ball. He reminded me of Tannehill this season. This was a total defensive effort. In contrast, KC was not able to get any pressure on Manning the whole game, and he was able to pick apart KC's normally good secondary.

Yeah, Anemone but I think you are overstating the point.

He had hurries but not as bad as Tannehill's experience during the worst of our run.

The ball being tipped could have happened to anyone so I don't count that EITHER against Peyton or FOR THE SEATTLE DEFENSE. Just unlucky.

He could not have done his taxes while back in the pocket but I don't think he was under the same pressure as Tanny.

In fact, I think HIS OWN DENVER DEFENSIVE LINE PUT MORE PRESSURE ON TOM BRADY THAN THE SEATTLE LINE PUT ON HIM.

You don't watch or understand football man... manning has CHANGED the way qb's play. He IS the offensive coordinator playing on the field! What other qb can say that?

I used to think that the colts was an 8 win team that he brought to 13 wins. When he got hurt I found out that the colts were the WORST team in the entire NFL (2-14) and he was taking them to 13 wins. He has the worst team and competing with elite teams in the playoffs... ofcourse he is not going to have a good record, his teams suck

To come at you another way brady prior to getting hurt for the year brought them to 13-3. He gets hurt, they have the same team and a guy name Matt Castle takes them to a record of 11-5. That tells me who is better between manning and brady and who has the better system. Just look at the records when they got hurt... Nuff said!

I've been saying it for years. Every team that has won a SB as these things in common. A great Defense and a great running game.
This SB was just more proff of that.
Taking nothing away from a great QB, but he is not everything.
