Agler reported that if Ireland stayed with the team his powers were going to be stripped. Which is why they mutually decided to part ways...

This is sounding a bit like someone, like Marino, was going to come in as VP with ultimate power on decisions.... And Irleand refused to be in that type of situation... Not sure it is Marino but sounds like someone else was or is coming in with power over the GM...

I say good riidance he took a player last season with bad kidneys Jamar Taylor. He didn't even see the field what a freaking joke of a draft last year. It's time to get a fresh start and perspective about what this team needs to be good. Let's hope we find a viable replacement that truly has good football knowledge.

guys good riddance but there are grumblings that Dawn Aponte is going to be GM and that even before Ireland was fired that potential coaching hires were told to speak to her not Ireland. Aponte is a CPA and it goes without saying she knows nothing about personnel. If we name her GM I think that would be a complete travesty!!
But I would not put it past Ross to name the first female GM to try to atone for the "bullygate" scandle

Berk, IMO, We are going to get a VP with all of the power, Aponte for contracts, and the GM will be a glorified, head of scouting... maybe even keep Gaines, if he will take the GM job with no power...

we need to bring in a football guy from outside the org to run the show. I am ok with aptone handling the contracts and keeping Gaine who by all accounts is actually decent. I am not OK with promoting Aponte to do anything other than $$ stuff, and we better not bring in someone like Tannenbaum who was horrendous with the Jets (Mark Sanchez extension??) or Mangini who was horrendous as a coach and has done nothing to show he is a good personnel guy.
Either the #2 guy from a succesful drafting team like BAL or GB, or someone like Pioli who I think deserves a second chance (great track record with NE, not so great with KC).

These half measures, though, firing coach and keeping GM, now keeping coach and firing GM, ensure that we won't get anyone of any high caliber to fill the vacant role, and so I really don't see anything coming of this but more of the same. Ross is a total fool, but I guess I should be happy he at least dumped Ireland (I am)---but let's see who he bring in now. It potentially could be someone even worse than Ireland (Tannebaum or Mangini)

Get rid of Gaines! Don't need Ireland's right hand, left hand or pinky toe anywhere near this team.

Aponte is only running the team until they complete their "nationwide search" for a new GM.

Philbin is not out of hot water yet looks like.

This is not the first time a GM has been fired without the HC. They usually leave it up to the new GM to decide if he wants the HC or not.

From what I've heard so far it seems that Aponte isn't going to pick the players for the team. She's taking over the Parcells roll but will hire someone to oversee the personnel part of the business. She'll effectively be the VP.

She could go with a weak GM/peronnel guy like a glorified scout (Gaine?) or should could turn over all the personnel stuff to a guy like Eric Mangini.

I'm not a big fan of the former Jet GM Tannebaum, but I'd be ok with taking a shot on Mangini.

He's a smart guy, he wasn't a bad coach when he had a QB, he was smart enough to stick it to Belechick in spygate, and like his mentor, I think he has learned from his early mistakes as a HC and will benefit greatly from his time away from running the ship.

I'm not sure I'm sold on him but he's an intriguing option for me.

He wasn't fired.......They "mutually agreed to separate ways". eye rolling smiley

LOL........Looking forward to the future and hope we get someone better. Because as bad as he was, we could have done a whole lot worse. Just saying.......I'm glad though. But Sherman was my Firing priority. Just awful. Parcells stink is now gone.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

VP of Football Operations, Carl Peterson
Personnel executive, Brian Gaine

See what Gaine can do and also hire another scouting guy that wants a shot to be GM. Someone from Seattle, SF or Baltimore or the like.

Dawn Aponte to get us out of the dead cap crap Ireland created.

There is a report that Ross wanted to have Carl Petersen be Irelands boss and that he'd have final say over personnel...Ireland didn't like this...Ican completely understand this.

Petersen is a jack ass and if he gets control we're screwed.

Not so sure about that Ken, Peterson was the first person to give Ireland a shot in the NFL.

Hey Phil Robertson could run this team, and it would not bother me as long as we win. Ok I don't really care who this person is or what gender of even if he is human. Just as long as he can spot winners in the draft baby. Hell put the draftees on a spin wheel, and I could of done better than Fireland last year just saying.
