Our next OC

Gary Kubiak:

Runs the WCO
Played QB at Texas A&M
QB coach for Steve Young during SB year.
OC for Denver winning 2 SB's

This may be one of those...better coordinator than HC type guys.

My only concern about Kubiak: health. Is he healthy enough to take the stress?

Ben McAdoo's name being floated around as the most likely choice

Oh joy! Might as well hire Zac Taylor. They both hold the samne position. Mr. McGoo was blocked from interviews last year.

Seriously, your going to think about hiring a McAdoo? What kind of sick third world name is that. Please pass no way that guy and superbowl go together in the same sentence, unless referred to as in, " no way he ever goes".

The problem with finding an OC is that you either have to promote someone who has never done it or hire a HC who was fired.

Our WR's coach Ken O'Keefe is more qualified than McAdoo. He was at least an OC before at Iowa under Kirk Ferentz.

I'm not sure what you expect to get at OC eesti.

With Philbin entering a "playoffs or bust" season the job isn't going to be attractive to everyone.

We aren't ditching the WC offense while Philbin is here.

You aren't getting a high profile OC from another team to make a lateral move to what could be a 1 year job.

So that leaves you guys who are presently unemployed or assistants with roots in the offense Philbin wants to run.

Kubiak is the big name, but can you get him here? What's his health status? Will he ever coach again?

Shanahan? Do we want the kid?

After that, who else are you going to get for this system, who is willing to take the risk of joining a staff that could be gone in 12 months?

that's why I said it would come from a staff who were fired. HC moving down, etc. There are more qualified people than just a Philbin lacky who has only been a TE coach and QB coach for 2 years.

my guess is the next coordinator will come from the packers offensive staff.

I just don't see a proven OC walking into a lame duck situation except of course a former OC with HC experience.

I guess Kubiak wouldn't be that big of a stretch. If we stumble to the midway point under .500 then Regis may be shown the door and the OC promoted.

Norv Turner is a great OC. Crappy HC but great HC. I'd be happy to hire him.

Didn't we have Norv here as OC at some time in the past? Maybe with Wanny?

Philbin does not fire Sherman unless he had a replacement already on board. Ross will not play the what if game after investing a billion dollars. I don't really blame the man either. I suppose we will here an announcement in a few days or so.

I expect it to be the McGoo guy in GB. It's not going to be an experienced OC or former HC since no one like that would take this job, with the liklihood that one bad year will get philbin fired, and with it his staff. This OC job isn't such a great on when you consider all of the other openings around the league.
Same thing happended the year we got rid of Henning, we couldn't get anyone better than Brian Daboll b/c everyone knew Sporano was dead man walking.
This is what happens when you make incremental half-assed moves like Ross is continuing to make.

Kubiak would NOT be a good choice. He is a game manager, and made many questionable calls on offense while he was here in Houston. In fact, that's exactly what got him fired. He is very timid in play calling, and very poor at clock management. Great guy, but lousy play caller.

So, Kubiak called his own plays?
