I don't loathe him, I just wish he would grow a set and make a decision. He was so unsure of himself last time he tried to hire a coach before firing the one he had. He is always trying to play it safe. F IT ROSS! Fire the lot of them , and then put an ad in the NFL wanted pages . Build it and they will come..........

Well, the NFL Investigator supposedly talked to every Dolphins player and coach, so I wonder if the above incident came up?

IMO, the NFL investigation is taking too long to be released, concerning Ross and any decision he needs to make or not make.

I'm sure if this report was released, it would help Ross know what is going on and maybe make his decision(s) easier.

The only thing about all this is ireland and the current regime wasnt able to put a decent OLINe in place this year. Or the years before.

Under this regime we signed a couple of LBers that stunk.

Only bright spot about all this was grimes. Now when he wants a big contract ireland will let him walk. IMHO

tannehill wasnt able to connect on the deep pass with multimiliionaire wallace. And he was wide open by 4 yards numerous times.

And so on.

what makes you think ireland and company are going to make it right next year?

If they dont clean house is going to be deja vu all over again next year.

I am coming to the conclusion that we will never be anything more than the joke we are today because he is running the team. make stupid decisions and is always the last one to know it

I don't know, Sam. With the way the season ended, with Ross contemplating changes, the Bullygate, and the problems in player personnel this season, I (hope) the Dolphins brass will go into the new season thinking differently.

Ireland knows he MUST shore up certain positions, mainly the OL, and a few other spots, here and there. Philbin and his staff know they must get off the snide and get their offense to be more consistent and to score more points. The defense must rebound from their disastrous 2,000 yards gained against in the running game, and tighten up their DBs, and of course do something about their ILBers.

With all this pressure, things should improve for the next season, at least that's what I am hoping.

Just a thought...

The Dolphins brass is not at the Davie facility...but they could be meeting off-site somewhere this afternoon. I'm sure Ross doesn't want a spectacle, kinda like the one he created yesterday by landing that helicopter on the practice field.

LOL, kinda screams out "Hey media people, here I am!!!"

anybody think that if we fire joe philbin.........then we will hire an even bigger scrub as the head coach because nobody will want to be the phins head coach????

Haven't you all thought of that.

As long as Ireland is the GM nobody is going to want to coach the dolphins.

Need to get rid of deadbeat philbin and hire someone with fire on the veins. Chucky.

if philbin gets shitcanned then Ireland shouldn't be too far behind.

I can live with that.

if that happens to be the case then i'd like the new gm to get the band back together starting with Mike Shula. He's done a great job with cam newton and that offense.

Gary Stevens has to have a kid in football. Let him run the offense.

Hopefully Olividatti only had daughters.

I don't see how Ross could keep Ireland and fire Philbin. As samsam3738 said above, no one decent would want the job.

Options (IMO):
1) Both are fired.
2) Ireland fired, Philbin stays -- weak/no GM model (like NE)
3) Both stay.

Thing about it is that I seem to remember that when we had Sparano, and his future was in doubt, we dicked around and could have had Harbaugh but we went a courtin' him while Sparano was still there, I remember something about a flight.

Harbaugh turned us down and then we signed Sparano to an extension. I remember this happening in January for some reason.

The point is that you CAN'T WAIT until the NFL comes out with a report on bullygate.

Not only just that but the NFL Players Association has it's bit to say about Bullygate.

If we wait until all that's resolved, we won't be able to get a decent high school athletic director for GM or coach or anything.

AND THE TWO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

If Ireland has something to do with bullygate as some have alleged without proof, then that does not mean his job as GM should not be subject to a decision based solely on football.

The same for Philbin and Sherman.

They are two separate issues.

But IMO, Ross is a bungler. Maybe not in real estate but that does not translate into knowing how to run a successful sports franchise.

Sam, why do you think no one would want to be Miami's HC?

Being a HC in the NFL is (most) every coach's dream. Miami has an owner who is willing to spend money to get the best talent available (see last year).

Now, if you are saying that based on the premise that Ireland will continue to be the GM, then maybe you are right, but based solely on no one wanting to be Miami's HC?

Day 6 since debacle vs Jets and no comment or action since. Ross's message to the fans seems clear: keep calm and carry on.

Like I said, this is a "you can't wait" situation. When you wait, other personnel are being snatched up. When the TV guys who were formerly in football sit back and see you sit around waiting for nothing, they think you are either a) trying to drive wage seekers wages down or b) really emotionally wedded to your employees.

Again, Bullygate has nothing to do with this. This should be a football performance decision, not a locker room or practice field atmosphere.

If he is waiting for Bullygate to make his decision, then do it like a non-idiot come out and announce,

"I have evaluated the situation with respect to the performance of my team and at this time I do not wish to make any changes.

Separately, there is an investigation ongoing by both the NFL and the NFLPA over the Martin-Igcognito matter.

My decision not to make any changes is DEFINITELY NOT irrespective of the outcome of that investigation. Such outcome may possibly change my decision with respect to making no changes in personnel."

In other words SEPARATE THE TWO.

No .....but instead this idiot Ross will let all the other coaches get snapped up and then announce after bullygate reports that he is making no change and that although there were problems, he feels that the talent he has is the BEST AVAILABLE considering the talent left on the market.

Damn fool.

exactly. the team's problems are clear from anyone watching this season and the moves Ireland has made the past 5 years. Waiting for Bullygate report is idiotic and shows that Ross has no clue about what is going on right in front of him and no insight into the team. It's like a company underperforming for years and years with the CEO making blunder after blunder, but waiting till a 3d party report to come out into whether the CEO sexually harassed his secretary before deciding whether a change at the top is needed.

I just saw where the Titans fired their coach after 3 years and a losing record, I bet that if Ross were the owner there that he would still be the coach.

Ross is a pu$$y, how he made his money I will never know

No, the reason Munchak got fired is because he refused to fire any of his assistants so the owner said nice knowing you..........Ross, you hearing this?

I just read that the titans first offered a raise and an extension and he turned it down. after a 7-9 season?? hmmm, maybe we shouldn't be holding up titan's ownership as an example we should follow....

The big problem is that:

1. Ireland knew that the o-line needed upgrading for 2 years and did practically nothing.

2. Philbin doesn't care for or want a good running game. He said that his system is based on short timing routes that take the place of the run. He did away with Polite and the true FB position, and they went from automatic 1st downs on 3rd and short to can't convert on 3rd and inches even if you give them two tries. With no strong running game, the offense is one-dimensional and has trouble sustaining drives which leads to fewer points. What good is an improved passing game if it means no running game?

3. Philbin wanted to switch to a 4-3, and the 3rd ranked rushing defense dropped to 13th. Ireland swapped LBs, and it dropped to 24th.

If you think that this team will fix the rushing offense and defense while Philbin is in charge you're mistaken... he's the problem (with help from Ireland).

Agreed except for #2. Our lack of running game isn't because of losing a FB or because Philbin does not want one. It's because the lineman aren't good and our current supporting players can't block....Clay and both RB's cannot block. That's on Ireland IMO. He let Reggie leave who was a very good pass protector as well as Fasano, who was a very good run and pass blocker. I understand the Fasano move but Ireland failed to find a blocking TE in the search for a seam threat.

Pure speculation on my part...

Ross is taking the weeekend to mull over what he heard last week. Decisions afterwards per league request so as not to overshadow the playoffs.
