What about Wilson and Luck? Where do you see them? Rivers?

Wilson and Luck are both good QBs; Rivers has made his mark in the NFL and is going to be up there in the record books.

These guys are not "great ones."

A lot goes into being a great one, and at present, those are the only four active NFL QBs who I consider great.

I'd say Rivers is a class QB like those 4 but not great like them. Tanny is class B like Matty.

Aha, so what you're looking for is a Jackie Gleason quarterback.

(anyone who gets that reference knows their Miami history and is OLD! lol)

Gleason was also the first "money bags" that was approached by Robbie to buy into the team. He refused, which is where Danny Thomas came in.

Gleason moved to Miami during the 1960s and took production of his TV hit series "The Honeymooners" with him. This is the reason they named that theater in Miami Beach after him.

Smokey and the Bandit movies and The Toy were great but they were among his later works. He had a great variety show "The Jackie Gleason Show" as well as the quintessential sitcom "The HoneyMooners" Both of which I believe started out filming in NYC then moved to Miami where Gleason preferred the weather.

Gleason was a great actor, emcee, comedian and even sometimes a bandleader, earning him the nickname "the Great One"

Back too football why is Kapernick able to use his skills better than Tanne? I think unless he can change what he does then a change is a coming.

kapernick has a better Oline, TE and RB?

Well then it's not all about that Kapernick does not miss deep throws. When are you guys going to get it through your thick skulls? You can't teach long ball accuracy, and Tanne has none. It's time too move on before players like Wallace, and Hartline leave in frustration.

Let me just add how many times did Tanne miss on the long pass play last year I count at least 30. If we half of those were in the playoffs folks.

I personally find it difficult to evaluate Tannehill fully and fairly when he spent so much time on the ground or being hurried. It's a real problem in judging his full body of work, especially in comparison with his peers taken in the 2012 draft.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it was to Dan Marino's development as a rookie to have a quality, veteran OL in front of him to generate a run game and keep him clean. That carries forward to the modern day. Anyone who think Russell Wilson or Colin Kaepernick would be as good as they are without those OLs in front of them and quality RBs supporting them are delusional.

Here's what we can conclude about Tannehill:
1) His overall passing productivity improved quite a bit over his rookie year, even with a bad OL in front of him and a poor running game in support. The stats unconditionally support this.

2) He has a serious issue with completing "go" and "skinny post" routes. This is the sort of thing that can ruin his career if he doesn't get it fixed. It definitely cost the Dolphins wins this year, and he must now prove to opposing DCs that he can complete those passes. Rex Ryan dared him to succeed Week 17 and he couldn't.

3) He has an issue with managing pressure in the pocket, especially from the weakside. He did a better job towards the end of the season with throwing the ball away, which helped. I would have liked to see him use his mobility more to escape.

4) He's a very good athlete, perhaps the most complete one we've ever had at the position (size, strength, speed, arm, elusiveness).

5) He's a good leader. The wins vs ATL, PIT and NE showed us that. So does his toughness in playing through injuries and in every game so far as a pro.

He could not throw the deep ball the year before and he was not getting sacked. He just cannot do it, not just last year, but never.

He does not step up in the pocket to escape the rush, he often runs into it.

Don't even put Marino in this. Marino did have a quick release AND he had pocket awareness. I recall several times him side stepping and firing a laser.

Yes that's all true. But Marino was like ANY young QB in that he had to get comfortable with decision making under fire. When you have a solid OL in front of you, like Marino did, and like Kaepernick and Wilson do, it makes a big difference.

OK....Let me see if everyone understands this now.....just in case you want to stretch this ridiculous thread to 5 pages.

Dolphin "thinks" Tannehill sucks and will never be able to throw deep.

Finshady basically "thinks" the same thing AND THAT 11th year QB, Josh McNown is a better QB than Tannehill and that we should sign him, even though he doesn't even know if he wants to play any more and has sucked for the past 10 years. The light has finally come on evidently.

So...an 11th year QB (who, prior to last season, had never had a QB rating above 75) can be taught to be a great QB but a 2nd year QB cannot.

The other guy thinks Philbin is an idiot and Tannehill needs to get out of the pocket because he will never be a pocket passer...oh...and that he ran the spread option at TAM.

Does that about sum it all up?

If there is any misunderstanding, you can just look IN EVERY OTHER THREAD posted by these people to read the exact same theories...OVER AND OVER.

Jim Harbaugh sat down a productive Alex Smith for an unproven Colin Kapernick, and you all see what happened. So you see not staying with the status quo gets you to the super bowl. Great coaches make great decisions . They don't sack their offensive coordinators. Just saying.

If Tanny does really good next year, I'm going to talk soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much trash to the few that so not want Tanny. I mean never let it go type.

Good analysis by Dolphin Digest's Andy Cohen this week:

"We saw what Tannehill could do last season with sketchy pass protection and the lack of a consistent rushing attack. I can’t wait to see what he does with more talent around him. That falls in the lap of the general manager.

It is the job of the offensive coordinator to put Tannehill in the best possible position to succeed. Use the right formations. Call the right plays. Do things that take advantage of Tannehill’s diverse skill set. The new offensive coordinator will have a huge impact on Tannehill. The success of one will surely be tied to the success of the other."

What I like about Tanne this year is that he made throws to the flats and sideline that he was missing (overthrowing) his rookie year. The guy improved. These same guys who are getting their panties all wet complaining about him are all going to be irritates next year spewing their man crush pinkiness about Tannehill. I think the guy is going to take a pretty good step forward next year.

Especially now that we brought in Mr Lazor.

We all can only hope that Lazor can get this offense up tempo and play to RT's strengths, however....

Much will depend on who the FO gets for our OL.

Crappy OL = poor season (and RT probably on IR).
