Sorry, I know there are other Free Agency threads here but I can't think of any other way to label MOST of what we're seeing in Free Agency, STUPID MONEY. Even without a designated CAP for 2010, these numbers are ridiculous.

NOW it seems apparent the pre-signings by the Phins (Carey, Crowder, etc.) made A LOT of sense before stupid money was thrown around.

A related topic: Pennington's $4.4M cap number in 2009 is a BARGAIN!
Cassel @ $14+ Million, Kurt Warner $11-$15M once signed....by the way LOTS of buzz in 49er-land today about his visit, talk radio LOVES adding Warner while hurting the team that finished just above them in their division.

One last point about Cassel and his trade to KC, I haven't seen anyone point out how much COMBINED CAP money KC absorbed with both Cassel & Vrabel. While the 2nd rounder does seem light "payment" from KC but maybe the Patsies needed to move BOTH to lower their cap space and KC was the only place that could work.

It is like 19-20 million. (3 for Vrabel)

If cassell has a brain he doesn't sign anything. In 2 years he will be on the open market and will be able to CASH IN big-time!!

Or he'll flop and be out of the NFL.

he ain't gonna be out of the NFL. If your a QB who has a couple decent games you hang around forever (ala SAGE ROSENFELS)!!

Cassell is in the perfect offense for him. Head Coach loves to throw the ball. He has a bunch of young WR's who can actually play. An old but productive TE. And a legit #1 RB in this league. If that o-line can do anything, they will be a team that can score points...lots of them

Yeah and if they had to keep them add on brady's salary and thats a whopping ~35 million for 3 players! Now what does the pats have for a spending budget something like 115 million this year? Thats like 33% of their budget on only 3 players!!! For a 2nd rounder when they were that desperate they once again came out ahead...
