ron rivera was almost run from Carolina after an 0-2 start this year.

6-10
7-9
0-2

and they almost canned him. now they're 6-3.

give these new guys some time. rarely does a coord walk right into a hc job and succeed.

i'm all for dumping the oc and dc but give philbin some time.

Get Philbin the hell out of MIA. I am thinking its Dungy, the other guys on Ross' 'committee' will nominate him he will accept.

Just hope that Ross remembers to fire Philbin this time first. eye rolling smiley

Our situation is much better then it was 2 yrs ago when quality head coaches wouldn't touch us with a 10 ft pole. Gruden loves Tannehill and I think would be a great fit . He stepped into Dungy's Tampa Team that just needed a few tweaks and brought home the Lombardi. He's smart , tough , and can do it again IMO.

Miami has a much more attractive Team when they just lose Ireland then they did 2 yrs ago and settled on Joe.

Why the long face Philbin? eye rolling smiley

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You may be right, Crowder, but if Ireland is fired, Ross will have a very difficult time hiring a good GM with that person not being able to say what HC he/she would want. Highly doubtful that a "name" person would fill the GM role and not be able to name his/her own HC. I don't see Philbin surviving a new GM hire.

I agree, but...

Where has that consistency gotten us? Ireland's signings haven't done much on the field. Philbin and his coaching staff haven't done much as far as teaching and getting these players ready to play. The third pick in last year's draft is a part time player? Wallace is doing what, exactly?

Who's fault is this mess? Ireland for not picking the right players or Philbin and the coaches for not teaching and preparing the players for game day? Or is it a combination of both?

Agreed, Truth, about Tomlin. He interviewed for the Dolphins job some time back but Sparano was hired. If he is available, that's our guy!

Someone else mentioned Dungy - from everything I have seen and heard, he doesn't want to return to coaching, and the same with Gruden and Cowher.

In addition, I read that the O-line coach has never coached before at the NFL level, and,,,, still has a job???
Can't blame that on Ireland.
That's squarely on Philbin.

I hope you're wrong, Dolphacolyte, to me if the GM goes, so should the coach. Makes no sense to bring in a boss and not let him pick his chief operating officer.

That's silly just from a common sense standpoint. Whenever there is a slight disagreement of the mind does not Philbin say, "After all dude, I was in this place before you came."

It's the same thing again, a new GM responsible for a team that Philbin lets go to Hell AND then the brain-dead Ross then will fire the next GM.

if you guys got your way you'd turn the roster and coaching staff over once a year.

As many of us know, the NFL is more about coaching than almost any other pro sport. Philbin is not getting it done. He's ineffective in many many ways. What I think is interesting is we keep hiring bad coaches. The coaches we have hired over the last few years have all been consistent in only one thing: creating a mediocre schizophrenic Dolphins team. One game they are on, the next game they are off. Even within a game, they get hot for a quarter and collapse the next. It's the coaching. Why do we suck at picking coaches?
Why?

You never see that kind of bipolar play with belichik, harbaugh, etc.
