Tony Dungy? Don't laugh, he's on the "committee" appointed by Ross, you know how easily the clueless Ross falls under the sway of people and Dungy is the closest think to a wholesome saint the NFL has.....makes sense if Philbin gets the boot due to whatever the nfl investigation finds.
Frankly, though, if Philbin is fired we could do worse....

Philbin is our coach next year, Ross made that pretty clear with his emphatic support of him as a person and professional... Ireland will be the blame in Ross's mind and Ross will feel obligated to give him a chance with a better GM...

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.

philbin is gone if (a) team collapses record wide (b) investigation points blame on him (c) new gm wants his own guy. all of these are entirely possible so I wouldn't be reading too much into ross's comments today. Ireland is for sure gone and most gms want their own guys, and ross won't can't keep philbin around if he is in any way to blame for this mess (either directly or by failing to know what was going on under his nose)

Its hard to see how this team wins another game if it can't get up for a monday night road game vs a winless instate rival after getting ripped by the national media for 2 weeks.
Let me see, let me see, count the ways, 1. eleven days off before playing and time to prepare, 2.instate rival, 3.lose to a 0-8 team and the topper, two yards rushing. And then we hear Philbin has the blessing from Mr Ross. Glad it's his money and not mine...
If Ireland goes, Ross has to clean house IMO. You will not get a good GM to come here unless he gets to pick his own coach. At this point, i'm OK with that. Startin to wonder about Tanny also, QB is definately something to think about next April also.
Unless there is an experienced head coach, one with a proven record of winning that has the burning desire to step up and take over this dysfunctional team, Joe Philbin will be here for next season.
The easier position to fill in my eyes, FWIW, is at GM. Someone else "rolling the dice" might change our luck. It's been too long a streak of failing player selection by Ireland. Time to dismiss him. The sooner the better!
I like philbin but he is in charge and his assistants suck.
Every time they showed the bucs sideline a position coach was talking to his guys. the qb was looking at pics and learning.
when they showed our sideline tannehill was watching the game with a teammate. they show the bench and all you see is players sitting there staring into space. not once position coach in site.
how about a little in game coaching. so effing painful to watch.
every team we play loads the box and makes tannehill beat them.
why didn't we do that against a rookie qb? I heard all offseason how great our front 7 was. how we had good problems with too many rushers. we had a package with Jordan, wake, and Vernon that would reek havoc.
where is it. I don't see it. I don't see our highly drafted dbs playing. I see Nolan carrol getting abused.
coyle and Sherman are jokes.
we have no identity. we do nothing well. we have no bread and butter play. we just line up and see what may work. I thought we were supposed to resemble the packers offense.
Philbin needs to go, clean the stinking joint up. Last year I wanted Mar Trestman this year I would like to bring in Seattle OC Darrel Bevell this guy is ready. Lovie Smith is out there to but I would like to see an offensive mind as HC.

Coughlin seems good on the surface , but remember he is also from the Parcells tree. I remember he was an awful coach at one point prior to his Giants job. He requires a great GM like the Giants have had. He might be a classic case of great players transforming average coaches into good ones.
I don't really like Tomlin, he has seemingly road the coattails of what was already built by Cowher toward his ring. Tomlin can't seem to beat the Patriots. Players seem to play hard for Tomlin though, he can light that fire at least.
Sadly there aren't very many great football coaching minds available out there. Don't even think about a college coach...remember that debacle with Saban?
I would not mind if Tony Dungy resurfaced in Miami...that would be kind of interesting.
Like most, i doubt many 'big name' guys would be interested in the circus we have right now...they would want carte blanche to come here...ala JJ or Parcells...and we know how that worked out. Hopefully Ross' 'committee' will be more than just for show. I think some of those guys at least have respect and 'love', if you will, for the organization.
