dissapointing DB's

I am used to the DB's stealing the 40 show in the end. I never seen such slow (relatively speaking ofcourse) times from this group. And what makes it worst the two top times were posted by safeties!!! wow. no corners broke the 4.0 40 mark. M.jenkins 4.58 (thats basically a 4.6- ouch)

That being said david button (know the name) is an absolute ball hawk. I saw a few notredame games and he is every where the ball was, either pickin it off or deflections. The one thing that concerns me is they played USC and guys were running wide open and I could not find button, they were scoring at will. I guess if you are a safety on an average team and you play a superior team it doesnt matter how good you are? Other than that game i LOVE what I saw out of this kid. Best FS i watched this year.

Infact I do think he is the guy we should draft in the second to fill the FS spot.

This draft is deep at LB, but not so much at DB. I say we pass on any DBs on day 1. If we pick up Surtain and re-sign Hill and Bell, we'll be in good shape at DB anyway.

We still need youth at CB and in the secondary for that matter. We need to replace all 4 positions as they are all 31 years old. Surtain will be 33 in June.

I'm not sure there's that much talent at DB in this year's draft.

The DB position feels to me a lot like the QB position in this draft. Meaning you have the top 2 or 3 with the next 10 not too far behind talent-wise. Very small margin separates the top couple from the rest of the pack. SO yeah, I'd wait. You could prolly wait till 3rd-5th round and pretty much get the same player you'd get in round 1-2 when it's all said and done. Parcells likes to draft with a "who fits us" scheme. I'd wait it out for an Orlando Scandrick type player (5th round) and you won't miss much talent between a high rounder. That's what I'm hoping the Saints do too.

This is good, so we have much more chance to choose the DB we want later in the draft.

Patrick Surtain was one of my favorite Dolphins ever, and I agonized when the team lost him to KC of all places(better than to the Patsies).

I do think he is getting a little up there in years and maybe has (or will soon) lost a step as a defender. I don't think he is the way to go for a rebuilding team.

We need to use a draft pick for a top young cb with a lot of speed(and hopefully with some height). Parcells and staff are excellent talent evaluators, and I trust them to pick wisely.

As far as Bell goes, I really hope we can retain him. If not, the Phins should obtain Jim Leonhard from Baltimore who is another great competitor and who gives his all to his team in every game.

According to Mando at Miamiherald.com it IS OFFICIAL!

Yeremiah Bell was given a new 4 year contract $20 miln, $10 miln gteed!

We are spending $$$$$$, but Bell is worth it. He gives his best every game.

We may need to draft a young speedy cb in the draft.

We may also need to restructure some contracts because cap room is decreasing mighty swiftly.
