Dolphins don't use tag but are working on signing Carey.

"I would think when you're coming off a 1-15 and now you're 11-5, when you start to turn the corner -- and we're not there yet -- and change the culture, that that's attractive to free agents. I think the players on our team right now probably have a pretty good message for potential free agents that might be out there."

Sparano said the Dolphins' plan under Bill Parcells is to build through the draft with an occasional dip into the free-agent market.

"You try to build it through the draft with as many pieces as you can," Sparano said. "We need a lot of players."

where did you hear they were working on signing carey? everything I've been hearing is that they don't want to pay what he would get on the free market and he is good as gone--which would suck big time

All the articles I've read say they're working on signing him. It doesn't mean they've offered him a huge deal, though. So, what you've heard doesn't necessarily clash with what I've heard.

Obviously they weren't standing firm. Carey got a sweet contract, and we have bookend tackles for the next 4 years.

Another great move by the trifecta.

I think that running the football out of our standard offense is our #1 priority. We ranked what #11 against the run so I think the nucleus of our front 7 are the strength of our team and needs fine tuning. That being said I just want to be able to run for 4+ yards consistently. If that means overpaying a guy to do that I would consider it, however it is possible to overpay a center and not get any production out of him. It is a toss up. But like I said i just want to be able to run for 4+ consistently. If we can do that via FA or a first day pick of a center then I am all for it...
