Tom Olivadotti 2.0

To all those fans who aren't old enough to have experienced Tom Olivadotti as defensive coordinator, Burke is pretty close. One difference though was that back then, we had Dan Marino to occasionally bail out the defense by winning a game 50 to 49. Olivadotti lasted 8 years until Don Shula was given the choice of continuing as head coach and replacing him or stepping down. He chose to step down. Loyalty to a fault. Another difference, come to think of it, is Don Shula was the greatest coach of all time. Gase is only the greatest coach in his mind. I'd say with the trade deadline looming, trade away whatever few assets you have and stockpile picks but the problem is that whatever assets we had are gone and Ross will likely keep the boneheads that destroyed the roster in the first place so additional picks are meaningless. Sad state of affairs with no light visible at the end of this tunnel.

Gase should set the example and go out the door first ahead of Burke. Going for the first on 4th down was gutsy. Calling an overly complex play when a simple hand off was stupid. Gase still trying to show what a genius of a play caller he is. We blow a chance to have a 14-0 lead on the Titans on their turf. Im sick of Gase (and Burke).

Gase is living off of Peyton Manning's success and the anomalous 10-6 season he had his first year. People forget that Philbin's first year wasn't half bad with less talent than Gase had. Gase is in over his head. Maybe if he'd worked as a coordinator for a couple of years, he might've been more ready to be a head coach but as for right now, um... nope. Each year with Tannenbaum, Grier, and Gase is a wasted year. No, actually worse than a wasted year because as they deplete the talent level of the team, it makes any possible return to relevance all the more difficult and prolongs the amount of time it will take to fix.
