Food for thought:

1. Case Keenum who has played for Houston twice, the Rams twice, and the Vikings has the Vikings in 1st place in the NFC. No necessarily a "Franchise QB"

2. The GM who has built the 1st place Vikings? Former Dolphins GM Rick Spielman.

3. The man credited with helping rebuild the Saints and improve their talent? Their head of Scouting, Jeff Ireland (former Dolphins GM).

Interesting, although with #3 I am not surprised as Ireland and HC Payton come from the same Parcells football tree.

What I have noted is that the installation of Wanny and the betrayal of Saban, it really changed the orientation and preference of the fans towards hiring offensive coordinators. Their records in parenthesis.

Wilson, 66-69 Offensive orientated head coach (15-39)
Shula, 70-95 Defensive + Head Coach (257-133)
Johnson, 96-99 Defensive orientated Coach (36-28)
Wanny, 00-04 Defensive Orientated Coach (42-31)
Saban, 05-06 Defensive Orientated (15-17)
Cameron, 07 Offensive Mind Coach (1-15)
Sparano 09-11 Offensive Line (29-32)
Philbin 12-15 Offensive Assistant (24-28)
Gase 16- ??? Offensive Coach (15-13)

Defensive Coaches: 350-209 .626 -Winning Percentage
Offensive Coaches: 84-127 .398
