It seems every year Kiper as wrong about Miami's selection and everyone is shocked. I think if Laurinaitus is there we take him.

It figures that NE takes Cushing.

Why must we take ANOTHER OT? We've drafted 2 in the first round in the last 5 years. And why spend a 1st rounder on a RT anyway?

WR is a position you take as the "sprinkles" on the cake. We are still in the process of adding the meat and bones to this team. We need DT, OLB, MLB....the anchors.

Not a flashy WR.

Plus I don't see Parcells taking a WR in Rd 1 under any circumstance

I don't agree. We're in desperate need of a #1 WR, and I'm not sure Ginn will mature into that role. We should be ok at NT next year, with Ferguson and Soliai (who started showing some dominance at the end of the year). We DO need help at LB, but that can be shored up in later rounds and/or in free agency. There aren't any good WR prospects in free agency this year, so I could definitely see us taking one in the 1st round.

WRONG.... TJ, BRYANT JOHNSON, ANTONIO BRYANT, ASHLEY LELIE, DREW CARTER

I think we've seen what we can expect from ROOKIE RECEIVERS, not much.

None of those guys are #1 WR candidates.

SO you think derrius heyward-bey would be the #1 receiver over TJ HOUSHMANZADEH if they booth were on the 2009 squad? I THINK NOT. eye rolling smiley

Kiper is losing it. He picked five wideouts in the first round. How many were picked in the first round last year? Also Heyward-Bey is a major reach at that slot. However, if Darrius does run in the 4.3's at the combine then, at 6-2 205, he would be intriguing.

A&O is right. If Oher is available there then you have to select him. A team should never pass on such a quality tackle. Vernon Carey, if signed, can always slip inside. If Oher isn't availabe then Guard Duke Robinson is certainly worth considering. Of course so much of this depends on free agency. If we sign Gross or Brown then the point may be moot.

Since it seems readily apparent that Crowder will be gone, conventional wisdom says that the pick is James Laurinaitis. Kiper must have overlooked the likelyhood that Crowder will not be returning to the Dolphins.

Mel Kiper is a moron, i dont know how he still has his job, i could do better than him and Im no "expert". Why get bey when you can get a guy like kenny brit who is just as good in the late second or maybe 3rd (depending on how is combine is). If we go offense we should go interior line, I like Alex Mack out of cal. Otherwise it is best defensive guy avaialbe between Saftey/ILB or Interior DL

Since we won't get a game changer with the 25th pick i believe we should go OL which is the safest bet.

There are going to be good WRs in the 2nd round and we have two picks so i hope we go WR in the 2nd round not in the first.

All kiper is doing is speculating. How would he know that many WRs are going in the first. He knows as much as we know. Nothing!

Its just speculation.

Why do you guys even bother to get worked up.

I'd love to see us take a big, tall and fast WR in the first round but I have to agree that we most likely won't even though we need a big time player in that position. The only player worth the money this year would be Bolden and I don't see us paying him what he'd want. Especially after his extremely juvenile pouting incident. I think O-Line or D-Line is the best bet pick at #25 unless a "can't miss" LB or S is there. I think a safer bet for us to pick a WR is in the 2nd round.

Michael Oher and Jake Long would make for an *AMAZING* offensive line.

There's no way Trifecta picks a WR in the first round. We need a WR desperately, but no way. And if Laurinaitis is there, why would we pass on him, makes no sense. Plus we need O line help.

yeah but we cannot run between the tackles, getting another tackle will not help that much. We need interior line men. I like herman johnson out of LSU- something like 6-7' 365lbs he is a beast of a man (OG)

Mike Mayock had William Moore as only the 5th best safety right now.

Another reason why we'll take a WR high in this draft. It takes time for a WR to develop. Rookie wideouts rarely step in and make a huge impact. If we want a young #1 guy, this is when we have to draft him, so that he'll be a bigger factor in 2010 and 2011. There are no options in free agency that fit our needs. Houshmandzadeh will be 32 years old when next season starts, and will be extremely expensive. And he's not much of a downfield threat. Antonio Bryant was run out of town in Dallas after he and Parcells got into an altercation on the sidelines. He's also missed an entire season for a drug suspension, and really has no established track record of being a top guy. We tried to go the route of signing a career #3 WR and hoping for the best with Wilford. This front office won't make the same mistake again.

If Heyward-Bey runs in the low 4.3's, it certainly could vault him into the first round. Personally, I'm skeptical that we'll take a WR in the first round. Especially if guys like Britt, Nicks, Iglesias, Barden, or Robiskie can be had in rounds 2 or 3. My favorite is Britt. I think he has the polish and size to contribute significantly as a rookie, and can develop into a star down the road.

That may be the answer afterall. I was all for us taking a WR in the first round, but at this point I'd be happy with a Chris Chambers-like guy. Chambers was a 2nd rounder.

HERMAN JOHNSON has been playing RT as well as G in the Senior Bowl. He is GIGANTIC. And remember SIZE MATTERS. His block was critical in the shortyardage touchdown run for the South.

Is it possible he's still on the board in the second round? I think NO

yeah i was watching something last year on him that said that he has the record for largest baby born in louisiana. He was born a 16 lbs baby!!! OMG how do you push that out. I dont think his senior year was as good as his junior year and he may have lost a bit of steam (actually LSU did worst this year so the way it works if your team does poorly then your stock falls). But if he does fall to the second I would love to take him with that 2a pick.

I wonder if mack in the first and H. Johnson in the second would be overkill... I tell you what their is no reason we should not be a strong run offense over the next 5 years if we can get those two guys.

Heck no thats NOT overkill. Having time to pass the ball and being able to run between the tackles is what wins the games. Ginn and everybody else would look much better if there was time for plays to develop.
