I can't imagine that we would ever draft a player for the specific purpose of running the wildcat. Nor can I imagine a Parcells team drafting a QB with the hope of converting him to a new position - unless, as noetic says, it is in the mid to late rounds.

Tebow is returning for his senior year.

Next year will tell the tail of how good he will be in the NFL. If the Gators let him pass more, we should get a good idea.

He is going to go to the Patriots sit a couple years under Brady/Cassell and then tear us up for 10 years. This guy is going to be a star and most people hate him because he is a good guy.

Isnt it supposaed to be the other way around? Arent we supposed to hate the bad guys?

Remember Bill Bellicheat and Urban Meyer are best friends. This scares me.

I don't follow college football very much, but isn't the Pats offense entirely different from the offense Tebow runs currently? (Not just a little different, but completely different.) Also, I don't think friendships will impact who the Pats draft.

To answer the question in the OP:

I'd use a late 3rd / early 4th round pick on Tebow. I hope he learns a lot in his senior year.

Very good observation Aqua. Tebow won't be drafted by us. We are set at QB. However, Tebow will make a great NFL QB if he decides to enter the draft. It doesn't matter what he played at FLA, he has all the talent to make it as long as he goes to a team that can coach. That is what scares me about the possibility of the Patsies drafting him. Just look what they did with Cassel and he didn't even start in college.

Actually its not that different comparitavely speaking to all the other offenses in the NFL. New England runs almost all their plays out of the Shotgun and thats exactly what Florida does.

With Tebow returning to Florida, he will work with the same QB coach that groomed Tom Brady and Chadd Henne into top recruits.

I think after staying for another year, he will be a first round pick next year. The only detriment would be the offense he runs in Florida. It does not showcase a prototypical drop back passer.

But New Englands offense doesnt showcase a prototypical drop back passer either.

but New England runs the shotgun and mainly passes from that formation with the occasional draw play.

Florida runs the "wildcat" or the "option" and could run or pass from the shotgun...most of the time running Tebow.

Actually, Brady is admittedly a great QB, but he was NOT a top recruit. He was a 6th-round-pick of all things!

I think Tebow is over hyped, personally.

If the wildcat is what they r after, look into Mike Vick. Imagine him as a running back, with the arm he possess? I'll probably get crucified but since the wildcat came up....
