8-8 team to host the AFC Championship?

If the Ravens beat the Titans in Tennessee and the Chargers beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh then the AFC Championship game would feature the Ravens against the Chargers in Sand Diego.

Could it happen? Right now, the Ravens are good enough to beat anyone, regardless of the location. The Chargers are playing well on both sides of the ball and may have enough firepower to pull off the upset in Pittsburgh.

Yes, an 8-8 team could host the AFC Championship. Stranger things have happened.

Philly is also looking as good as anyone in the NFC with a healthy Westbrook... so imagine if we end up with 8-8 San Diego vs. 9-6-1 Philly in the Super Bowl.

When the Ravens get to the SB we will all realise why we didn't do well against them.

Some say the Patriots deserved to be in playoffs, hard to disagree with that. One thing for sure is you dont want the Dolphins hosting anything at Home, they seem to always blow it at home.

I recently read something about the Pats versus the Chargers - as it pertains to making the playoffs this year. The Pats had a better record for the year; however the Chargers beat them head to head, got hosed out of a win against Denver, and they both had the same (5-3) record over the second half of the season. Also, the Chargers are hot right now. They are actually capable of more damage in the postseason than the Pats would have been.

I'm sure the '72, '73, '83 and '85 teams wouldn't agree with you.

I disagree that the Patriots deserved to be in the playoffs. You only deserve to be in the playoffs if you make it. I think they may have performed better in the playoffs than us due to their playoff experience and perhaps even their talent, but we deserved to be there and they didn't.

Unless they change the rules, the only teams that "deserved" to be in the playoffs were the ones that actually WERE in the playoffs.

Agreed. The Patriots weren't good enough to win the division and they were 3rd among the runner up team (Wild Card).

IMO Pats not making the Playoffs @ 11-5 is Karma coming back to bite them hard. They are the only team in the 5 and 6 Conference Playoff format not to make the playoffs (The other 11-5 Team not to make the was when only 4 teams made the playoffs in each conference.) IMO Karma punished the Patriot for cheating in the Super Bowl and Karma Punish the Pats 2008 season for running up the score last season.
