I wouldnt be surprised if by the day of draft Sean Smith from Utah will be our pick.

He is a Safety and he measured at 6'4 215. He ran a 4.50.

We need a big hitter in the backfield.

I would love to get this guy. He has the same measurables and abilities as Nnamdi Asomugha. NA ran a 4.48 at the combine. Nnamdi was originally projected to be a second day/5th round pick until he ran a 4.38 40 at his pro day and was then chosen in the 2nd round.

I would have a ball with Detroits picks this year. 1, 20 & 33.

Oh yeah.

Smart coaching and they could turn those picks from 3 picks to possibly 6 or 7.

Jimmie Johnson would have a field day if he had those.

I don't think anyone wants number 1 but they could re-tool their team with the picks they have....

1 Jason Smith
20 Peria Jerry or Aaron Maybin
33 Connor barwin, Michael Johnson or Rober Ayers
65 Rashad Johnson
82 ????

Must be nice.

Now that we, unexpectedly, re-signed Crowder, I think it's like getting another draft pick (since ILB isn't AS glaring a need anymore). I still see us drafting an ILB on day 1 (the talent is just too deep, and Ayodele isn't very good), but we now have more flexibility to take the BPA either at WR, Center, NT, LB, or DB.

SATURDAY from the COLTS wants to move to pittsburg and play guard. That could screw up a deal for UFA JASON BROWN, drive the price up thats for sure.

Wonder if these signings make it even more of a case that OL will be the pick?

It will either be......

OL, ILB, WR, OLB.

You mean the guy who drafted John Avery and Yatil Green in the 1st round?

I can name a lot more duds drafted high by Jimmy while he was in Miami than good picks.

Monte,

You can say whatever you want. But in my book, those four picks alone gives JJ a thumbs up in my book.....no matter how many duds he drafted.

I will always have much respect for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He got that much needed 1,000 yard rushing monkey off our back.

You can sum pretty much all of JJ's good picks in one word: DEFENSE. His bad picks: OFFENSE (or Offensive...at least to most fans):

John Avery
Yatil Green
Abdul-Karim Al-Jabbar
Larry Shannon
J.J. Johnson
Cecil Collins

Kareem was dec for a couple seasons. One year he led the league in TD's with 16.

That was because Jimmy insisted in feeding him the ball on 1st and 2nd down and wouldn't throw inside the 10. It's ridiculous how Jimmy wasted Marino's final years making this guy a 1000-yard rusher (barely!).

JJ had his share of misses on defense as well.

CB Dorian Brew (rd 3)
CB Kirk Pointer (rd 4)
LB Lacurtis Jones (rd 4)
LB Ronnie Ward (rd 3)
LB Brad Jackson (rd 3)

You build your team with those picks in rounds 1-4. Out of those 5 guys, only Ronnie Ward ever made the roster. That is an incredible waste of draft picks. And to make it worse, the same 4 guys that never even made the team were all acquired in trade downs. Everyone always raved about JJ's drafting and how he manipulated the draft. But, for the most part, he was a lousy drafter for us.

Because we darn sure cant take SEAN SMITH there anymore, everyone is high on him and his versatility. And our need isn't so great in the SAFETY area.
