BIG O LINE period. need every guy to be at least 6.3 up, simple the bigger the more mass, and longer they can hold a block. when you got linebackers 6.2 6.3 250 plus rushing in running a 4.6 4.7 then you need BIG men up front who can SHOULDER the brunt of that much force comming at you, i say 6.4 perfect for center, hell 6.4 perfect for any lineman. not too tall for quaterback, not to big to be slow, 6.4 300 pounds perfect big dudes.

Yeah lets not keep contempalting the if's with the WELKER give-away, I mean trade.

We have shown a tendancy to sign FAs with 4 years of experience. Jason Brown fits the profile. A signig like that would be equivalent to another DRAFT choice. Without it we take C ALEX MACK. Which would be great.

-C MAX UNGER would be a great selection #44 (if he was still there but thats kinda risky ,we could trade up, kinda a reach @25 though)

Just ignore the stuff about welker if it bothers you. I didn't read the article for welker, just our decision to move Satele.

I think we need significant help on the O line, there's no guarantee if Thomas will be as effective as before the injury, so I wouldn't mind if we used both FA and draft for the line.

I read somewhere that Parcells said he needed 18 players. So we'll be active in FA.

Hopefully we'll have better luck in FA on offense THIS year than last. Almost every guy we picked up is gone or benched (David Kircus, Josh McCown, Ernest Wilford, Sean Ryan, Boomer Grigsby, Tab Perry).

Dolphins G Donald Thomas (Lisfranc surgery) says he is close to 100%.
"I'm chomping at the bit," said Thomas, a starter before his September injury. "I'll be ready for the first (off-season training sessions) and all that stuff, full go."

Dolphins G Justin Smiley says his rehab from surgery to fix a broken leg and torn ankle ligaments is "well ahead of schedule."
The injury was thought to be career threatening when Smiley got hurt in late November, but he claims "Everything is healing up very nicely...they say I'm well ahead of where most people should be." He is questionable for OTAs.Smiley's leg got rolled on by a teammate and the injury appeared serious.

Andy Alleman came in. Smiley has arguably been Miami's best interior lineman this season, so his loss for an extended period could be problematic.

Pick Analysis: The Dolphins traded up to get Murphy. This is a good, solid pick at this point in the draft. He's versatile on the offensive line. Murphy is mature and has great size. In Miami, they are going to want to pound the ball and he is not only strong but tough, smart and can change direction. He could be in the league a long time.

I think we need a starting center thus giving us even more depth at guard with Satele.

We need Brown or Unger, a 2nd tier guard/tackle ala Smiley and another 4th to 5th round guard and we are set.

I still think Satele can do the job. With 2 solid guards on either side and some continuity with the team, I think Satele could be great.

All the signs point to the end of Satele at Center. The dolphins will add a center this year either thru FA or draft. Satele better smarten up and get in the gym if he wants a shot at a guard spot or he will be a backup or trade bait. We can afford to keep him as a backup as he only makes about 700k per year.

They dont like Samson's surge at the point of contact.

Samson utlilizes his quickness do to his smaller frame. Which in Sparano's system best fits him as a Guard. They want a powerful Center.

You think Dwight Stephensen wouldn't be a decent Center today? He was 6'2" and 255 (much smaller than Satele). I wouldn't say 6'3" and 300 is a SMALL frame.

It's really about technique. Satele can easily put on 20 pounds in the offseason and still retain his quickness. One inch in height won't make a difference between him and Mack.

With the contracts given to Smiley, Long, and Carey, will Miami be willing to pay big $ for a C like Jason Brown? Maybe. It's considered a deep draft for centers, with 5 guys rated as worthy of a selection in the first 3 rounds. With Carey locked up, do they turn their free agent attention elsewhere, and plan on landing a C in the draft?

Im 6' 220 so yes, 6'2 300 is big to me. But, its small to Vince Wilfork who is 6'6 345.

Centers have never been as big as NTs. Stephensen handled the Fridge in that Chicago game that preserved our undefeated season. HE was giving up almost 100 pounds to him.

Please dont compare Stephenson to Satele......dont go there.

Until we hear it directly from the Dolphin staff, I'm not going by what writers are saying. How many times has a writer successfully predicted who we would take in the 1st round anyway?

Now Drew Rosenhaus is getting in on the act...guaranteeing that the phins will take a WR. With the depth at LB this year, I almost hope he is right because I just drank some Nicks Kool-Aid.

Center Jason Brown could be heavily pursued by the Miami Dolphins to become their starting center, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Brown would replace Samson Satele at the position. Brown could still re-sign with the Ravens, but the team has until Friday to do so, or he'll become a free agent.

I am trying to think of a big name high priced free agent Bill Parcels went after in previous years. Not T.O. because that was one of Jerry's kids. I can't think of any. He went after 2nd tier players like Ernest Wilford, DT Randy Starks, G Justin Smiley and Calvin Pace but refused to overspend....except for when Ernest went to camp.

We offered a lot of money to Calvin Pace last season, 6 years for $40M+ with $20M guaranteed.

Yeah that was definately a HUGE offer. Glad that didnt pan out.
