I still don't understand Finnegans contract... If he is able to be cut prior to the final 53 without much of a cap hit then I think, he is aquestion mark... If he gets his money no matter what then I would agree... But it just seems a lot of money to pay a guy who hasn't been that good the last couple years... Also not sure how many WR's we keep on the roster, who 5 and 6 will be and if there is a 6 ...
Also Jamar Taylor to me is a question mark with his health issues... Since Hickey doesn't have any loyalty to Ireland picks, it could get interesting with some of these guys...
I impressed you think Egnew makes the cut again...
Will Pat Devlin unseat Matt Moore this year?

I think Taylor starts.
He's very talented, the only issue with him is how long it takes him to get healthy from certain injuries due to the medications he can't take.

I think we keep 4 TE's. If Hoskins impresses at all he could push Egnew out the door. That gives you two H-back TE types in Clay and Hoskins and two blockers in Sims and Lynch.
Egnew is a wild card. If he continues to improve he'll find a spot on the team. If he peaked last year then he's probably done.

I don't think so, at least not based on talent. Its possible we cut or trade Moore to unload his cap hit, but barring that I think Devlin goes.
Green Bay did this a few years back when the roster limits were tweaked for active players on Sundays.
Unless you have a legit 3rd QB whom other teams covet, it makes sense to go with two on the 53 man and a 3rd developing on the practice squad.
Realistically, if your 3rd QB is in a game for more than a play or two, you are losing that game. You can lose a game with anybody lining up at QB. Why carry a 3rd QB for that roll when you can lineup anybody there and get the same result? This way you carry an extra special teamer who might actually make a play or two that decides a game in your favor.
Once that week is over, you can promote your 3rd stringer and give him reps if your other two are out for an extended period of time.
It certainly depends on how people play this summer, but if I needed an extra roster spot I'd do it.

Thanks for the insight Joe.....Wow that doesn't sound like that great of a deal, we can cut ways with him before the start of the season for 2 million. Nolan Carroll is making 750 k next year, do we think Finnegan is going to be that much better then Carroll was last year? Hickey made a big gamble on this guy, I hope he is last years Brent Grimes, but I don't think that is going to happen.... Finnegan's deal only makes sense if he is a healthy Patterson..... That is a a pretty big bet and one that I would have bet against... I hope Hickey pulls a legend move because right now I just don't see it... And the fact Finnegan negotiated it without an agent would really make Hickey look out hustled by a player without an agent if it doesn't work out.... Which is not a strong position for a newly hired GM trying to prove his skills and worth....
