Most of Indy's wins during their streak was due to *defensive* plays, not Manning. Remember the Texans game when Rosenfels had like 48 turnovers. their were alot of other games as well.
It is still ridiculous....because Manning took his team from 13-3 to 12-4? WOW, what an accomplishment! He was working with a playoff team not the worst team in the NFL. It's a joke but he is still the best in the league.
I'm sure Chad would give the award up for a win on Sunday.
Manning threw for 4,000 yards and had 10 more TD's over Pennington. Not to mention that team was 3-4 and they haven't lost since in maybe the toughest division in the NFL.
Manning was the MVP. His comeback wins over SD and Jax sealed the deal to him winning this MVP.
Pennington didn't throw for as many yards and TDs as Manning. However, Rivers did and so did Brees. Rivers stats came on an 8-8 team in a horrible division. Brees' Saints didn't make the playoffs. Therefore, I don't consider them as valuable to their teams as Manning or Penny to theirs.
The Colts division is NOT the toughest in the NFL. Houston only plays well when nothing is on the line (or every game in their team history when they face the Phins). JAX laid down this season.
This team was 2-4 and have only lost once since. Both went 9-1 in their last 10. Comeback wins against two very disappointing teams sealed it for Manning? OK.
Again, I think he has been the MVP for the entire decade. But, this year, no player has been more valuable to its team in terms of wins (the only measure of success) than Pennington. Everything in Indy has been set up for offensive success for Peyton. Pennington had to work with a hand that was already dealt. Peyton had the benefit of mature, tested, proven successful players and coaches around him. Pennington was probably the only offensive player on our team who has been in the playoffs in his career (OK - Wilford...and he made a huge contribution...I guess Fasano spent a couple years backing up Witten in the playoffs).
I knew Peyton would win it after Chad was named Comeback Player of the Year. Once they threw him that bone that was all they were going to give him to chew on.
Thats bull chad deserved it more than anyone in the nfl leading a team from 1-15 to 11-5. Chad has always been unapreciated. Chad's such a humble guy that im sure hed trade every award for a win sunday and a superbowl
