We need to sign or trade for a Mike LB that has experience and can help coach and orchestrate the defense from the field, be the first guy to call out the offensive play and plan of attack... Our defense while a bunch of individual talented players are not in position to make plays or in shape enough to be staying on the field as much time as they are staying on the field.. Our defense has no on the field leadership end of story... Someone on the field has to be playing the mental part of the game for the defense and then making sure everbody work together as one single unit, that is not happening, and I dont think there is anyone on the defensive side of the ball capable of handling that at this point...,. Dansby has proven to me he cant handle the job, although he is a great LB, he can not make the call and run the defense and that is crushing our chances of stoppin the opposing offense on gameday.

If he is the best option available then I would agree with you, but if we can make a real move and get and upgrade healthy intelligent young player, then I would support that also or first, but we need to solve the problem with no leader on the field directing the defense

I agree...bringing back Crowder couldn't hurt at this point.

Maybe.

But we need someone who plays like a leader, not just acts like one. In other words, is Crowder physically capable? The fact that no other team has picked him up suggests that he isnt. And if that's the case, bring him on the coaching staff, why not.

The fact is New England immediately picked him up, he reported then retired. My case w/ Crowder (and Carey) is do not cut them unless you have someone better. Do not think you have better but know. Those two players were/are often the most maligned by the fans but imho bring more to the game than they are given credit for.

Or are you saying that he went to New England for a workout, the Patriots offered him a bag full of cash, and Crowder turned around and said, oh no Mr. Kraft, I only wanted to visit the lovely environs of suburban Foxboro, I don't want actually want to play football anymore. JC- there is lots of debate about what happened. Crowder said he had offers. He said that while visiting and in talks with NE, Crowder back out and decided to take a year off to be with his first born son who was born this preseason. His Dad, wasnt there for him growing up, he was raised by his mother... With that undying loyalty for the Dolphins, gone, he felt his loyalty was more important to his wife and son this year. If Crowder wanted to sign with NE for VET mininmum with no guaranteed roster spot, who would have been signed by the Patriots. He probably could have gotten a little more from Buffalo and a few others. But I dont see, how people think it was not Crowders choice to not play this season is funny... His loyalty was to the Dolphins, when he talks on his radio show right now, he talks about the team as if he is a member of it still... He says I am Dolphin for life.... ALthough he also says he will sign somewhere else next year. His Dad was a Dolphin, he was raised a Dolphin, and so far he was drafted and played his entire career with the Phins.

A lot of people have said this doesn't matter, but Ross/Parcells/Sparano have single-handedly eradicated team loyalty. It started with the way they let Zach Thomas go. Then the crap that happened with JT. Then Ricky and Ronnie. Now Crowder. I'm quite surprised that JT came back, actually, but there is something to be said for team loyalty. Crowder took less money to stay here..and we kicked him to the curb.

I don't know. Maybe I'm making too much of it. I'm fiercely loyal in almost everything I do...but the Phins are starting to lose me as well.

I dont think Dansby can handle it... Actually this might be a blessing in disguise, if Burnett can step up and handle it... Dansby great linebacker, you just dont want him playing the chess game with the opposing offensive cordinator, it takes him out of the game and makes him slow to react, himself, besides the lack of mentall support on the play the other players are looking for....Inactions is an action, and that is what is plaqueing our defense... We are not playing fast because we are lost about what is going on, or still waiting for the answer on where to line up or whereto attack or cover...

I don't doubt that Crowder is/was loyal to the Phins, I remember when he took the hometown discount when his contract was up the previous time.

My only real question is: is physically capable of playing or not? If so I wouldn't be against bringing him back.

He is probably out of shape. Im almost positive.

Ok, once again, Burnett and Dansby, are playing horrible... We have no leader on defense.... Our MLB's are completely out of position on the ball 90 percent of the time... The MLB position has been the biggest let down on the team this season, which is a no no in todays NFL...We need to make a move, we pay these guys alot of money to play horrible...

Dansby played well last year, and Burnett looked really good in preseason...so I'm not going to put this 100% on the players. This is a coaching problem first. Along with Sparano...fire Brian Cox as well.

Dansby wasnt the MIKE Linebacker for most of last year, and the couple games when he was, he played at much lower level. Burnett looked good in preseason, exactly... So did Livas.... Preseason is a bunch of young guys trying make a roster, hardly the same game speed, as regular season... Burnett and Dansby have been horrible this year. Worst MLB core in the NFL by stats... These guys are not making tackles or anything, it is almost as if they are not even on the field....

Well it is the exact same defensive coach that took our defense from 29th in the league to 6th in one year last year... Is it not? How do you explain that statitistic?

Brian Cox wasn't our LB coach last year.

Yes and we are great rushing the passer this year. That explains all the success and all the sacks..

I am not saying Cox is some great answer but he surely is not the LB coach and not the problem of this defense. Same coaches pretty much across the board on defense with cox being an extra coach we didnt have last year.. So the defense didnt fall apart becasue we added an extra pass rush coach... We need a MLB

I'm curious, considering how well the defense played last year, how many of those downs did Crowder sit out with an injury? My memory is failing me. Who was our Mike last year when Crowder was out?

of course you are not.............i know im just frustrated bryan cox is in charge of the phins pass rush.
