I saw him play in game 2 preseason, tall target w/ good hands. I think the team will give him a chance to make the roster.

I read he's a blocking TE.

He has to stay on active 53 for 30 days so no chance he was brought in as spy.

We released Frank Kearse to make room for him too.

Where did you read that Armando said he was a 5.15. So I like your time better, but is it true?

I live in New England. Pats fans were pretty high on Yeatman. And both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald had considered him a lock to make their roster.

Intriquing signing. NE has two very good TEs...potentially great TEs. Most thought the undrafted Yeatman would beat out 5th round pick Lee as the 3rd TE.

NE gambled and thought they could stash him on the PS. They got caught in a numbers game while keeping 3 qbs, 6 wrs, and 10 defensive linemen, 6 cbs and 4 safeties.

It is commone sense that the teams with the best players at the starting positions often have starter quality players as backups.

Yeatman is young but obviously talented. Reminds me of a more athletic Joey Haynos.

Yeatman looked impressive during training camp and and clearly outplayed the Patriots 5th round draft pick Lee Smith. After Smith was waived, it was almost a lock that Yeatman would be the 3rd TE on the roster; it was a real shock that he was cut (leaving only Gronkoski and Hernandez as TEs on the roster). There's now some speculation that Nate Solder, the Pats 1st round pick may play a little TE since Matt Light has resigned as LT and Solder came into college as a TE. That being said, Solder hasn't practiced at TE with the Patriots to anyone's knowledge.

There was consensus on Patriot forums that Yeatman would be the UDFA to make the 53 (there seems to be one every year).

Yeatman is a blocking tight end; anytime he runs a route and catches a pass would definately be a bit of a surprise.

Good pick-up by the Phins.
