I'm with the owners

I tell it like it is if it wasn't for the owners most players would never ever earn six figures much less seven figures. I know the owners are rich and don't need the money however they own the teams. Most players if the weren't playing football couldn't work the third shift at a dairy queen. So what in the hell are they complaining about. Let's not have football and then see how many players could survive working real jobs. Players stop kidding yourselves this is the best gig most of you are ever going to get. The owners have the upper hand and now it's just a waiting game, and I think the players will blink first. One last point DeMaurice Smith who is the players rep needs to understand you can't talk to billionaires the way he did today, and not expect a lockout. If i were a player I would get rid of that bum, and get someone to represent me that actually played in the league.

Sorry, I am with the players. If it wasnt for the Peyton Mannings, Tom Bradys, and Drew Brees's of the world those owners wouldnt have any titles, and their franchises would be cellar-dwellars.

The owners are BILLIONARES! BILLIONARES!

Most players are not even millionares.

The owners are their bosses. If you were the boss of over 100 millionaires (or near millionaires) and had to pay for a football stadium, etc.., you'd have to be a billionaire!

There is not a hundred millionares. But again, go ahead and agree with the owners and we will be talking about how it sucks to not be watching football this fall.

Coaches and players together, pay and additional benefits. Average out the top salaries with the small ones, I bet it adds up to around 1 million per person.

No where close.

Again, see you on the board this fall....we are both gonna be talking about how it sucks not watching our Dolphins play. sad smiley

Side with owners = No football.

Side with players = Football.

Choice is easy for me.

I dont completely agree. I think the players decertifying, means the players are the obstructionist. When the Union fits them, they are union strong and even made unified stances of union strength last year through out the NFL on TV. Now that they dont like the direction the mediation started to go in. They abandon the union and decertify? Does anyone really believe the NFLPA is no longer acting as a union. That is a bunch of BS. This a legal tactic by the players to try and get a better deal then they thought they would get with a fair mediator. They think the judge will give them whatever they want, so they dont want a mediator, they want who they believe to be a judge who favors them instead of an unbias mediator. THis will not work, and seems more of a desperate move by the players.

The point is we as fans root for the teams the players can't go out and start another football league where as the owners can bring in new players to fill the rosters of all NFL teams. So what's the difference really? I know no star players but the greed would be gone and the me 1st attitudes. The players are spoiled they think they are the league well they are wrong. The Dolphins are still the Dolphins no matter who puts on the uniform. The same for the other teams. The players really have very little leverage so in the end the owners will win because they own the teams and have the most money. That is how most strikes end up anyway.

Ok let me tell you this. I love the Miami Dolphins, not the Peyton manning's.

Sure its awsome to have a Peyton Manning, but players come, and players go.

However the Miami Dolphins will forever stay.

Im with the owners, f.ck the players. I don't care If Im watching myself play on sundays. Its football, and as long as my team wins kick rocks.

I.E see Keanu Reeves "The Replacements".

"the math:

32 teams...53 men on each roster = 1,696 current players (min) in the union at any given moment (excluding practice squad players).

9 billion in league revenues per year. Players were getting 58 % of that or $5.22 billion.

$5.22 billion divided by 1,696 players = $3,077,830 per player per year."

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Then tell me why they said atleast 65% of the players play for the league mimimum.

Do the math.

A small minority of players in the NFL make a big chunk of the pie there is no debating that, half are rookies who dont deserve it and the other half are great established players. Also not in the numbers I am guessing is the cost of the veteran players.

See, thats where you are making the mistake. Factor in Peyton's salary, Reggie Wayne's salary, Dwight Freeney's, and Dallas CLark's salary as well.

Now what about those other 12?

I think that it is pretty clear that the players got the better deal in the last CBA. I have no problem with the pendulum swinging back into balance...even if it favors the owners.

Certainly, there are some owners that are still making very good money. But, I believe that their are some markets that are not very profitable.

I believe that Wayne Huizenga saw this coming and got out while the getting was good.

However, it's hard to have any simpathy for the owners...who are mostly billionaires. (Dan Rooney of the Steelers has a net worth of 150 million according to Forbes as part owner).

It would be nice to develop a solid formula for profit sharing that is not overtly socialistic in nature that allows both the owners and players to continue to grow in wealth and security.

I believe that the players need to give a little in the percentage...but, some pay scale adjustments need to be made.

I am not a fan of this being handled through the court system. Both owners and union should have been able to sit down with the mediator and get an acceptible agreement. Demanding to see the audited books of the NFL for the past 10 years is an unrealistic ploy. But, some owners are willing to share real financial data that the players union should have at least been willing to look at.

At the end of the day, I believe that the next CBA will slightly tilt in favor of the owners...and rightly so.

Interestingly enough, 150 million is nowhere NEAR a billionaire! Were you making a point that the Steelers are one of the most winning-est franchises in NFL history and have kept that fairly consistent? Basically, owner make less, team wins more? Just curious.

I personally Love the revenue sharing. Becuase of the Salary Cap It makes the off season as interesting as the Season. If not for the Cap a Market like Greenbay would never have a chance against Teams like the Jets and Giants in a much bigger Market. (When was the last time the Brewers won anything is MLB?) The Yankees bought their way into several championships. @#$%& these players. I will gladly sacrafice a season of Football to watch players like Cromartie go under as his baby Momma's cry for Ca$h to afford their fancy hair weaves and nail polish.

F'em. F'em all.

I look at it like this. Bill gates is getting sued by his employees because they do all the work and he makes most of the money. I wonder who is going to win this batle obviously Bill Gates. The same can be said for the owners. They will win because some players live check to check where as the owners don't live that way. I sympathsize with the players however they can't take on the the owners and expect to win. In the end the deal will get worked out because not having football is not an option if you guys remember the last strike when they really did bring in replacement players. I remember watching those games and telling myself damn I miss Marino and his golden arm.

The notion that someone like Bill Gates doesn't work is a misnomer. If Bill Gates didn't work, all those employees either wouldn't have jobs or would be working elsewhere.

You guys can't compare Bill Gates and NFL owners, Bill Gates can fire all of his employees and replace them with equally talented ones, the NFL can't, take away the players and you have a sh.t product running around on Sundays. (it's an example, I realize Gates's product would suffer if he fired everyone but it would survive, the NFL wouldn't, sure they could get enough people to field teams but it wouldn't be the same.)

I personally would like to see big mouth players like Cromartie go broke because he is to illiterate to work a 3rd shift at dairy queen. I say the hell with all the players, and their ME first attitudes. Alot of players if not for the NFL would have a real hard time time making an honest living, and a decent living wage. The NFL for alot of these players means wealth and stardom not poverty and a life of crime. Some players are smart enough to make it in the real world without the NFL, but they are few and far between. So why are the players striking? They can't make it on the salaries that range from a few hundred thousand to muti millions give me a damn break. Once again I blame DeMaurice Smith, and his wreckless way that has led to this lockout. Bottom line the players don't own the teams. They are merely hired hands albeit expensives ones. The players need to be put back in their places, and soon that will happen.

Dear NFL Owners,

I don't care if you put helmets on some homeless bums, I will cheer for my team(the dolphins). If these unionized players will not play for you, find some players that will. We fans need football so bad, we will still watch, and I am sure, each team will find a diamond in the rough that we will pull for. You are the owners of YOUR business. If the players don't like the rules, find another job like the rest of America.

Thank You
